Hard to impress on the youngsters on here the totally explosive impact that first episode of the Young Ones had. A Sgt Pepper or Life of Brian moment, and like Python they were brilliant at mocking the Establishment AND their own constituency of young, hip radicals. And wasn't he FANTASTIC on Jackanory? My then twelve year-old niece went straight from that to my videos of the Young Ones, and can quote them extensively twenty years later. My daughter saw both series as soon as they came out on dvd. Rik Mayall is, will always be a legend, without his group of comedians there would be no one today, they didnt just break the mould they decimated it!
