Notwithstanding what I said about the need to avoid personal big-ups in my last post, that IS a real compliment!! Cheers Woody.

I actually think that's a great idea. Not you modding it Cerny!! But a sticky thread that people can click into and discuss any number of non-QPR related topics.

Our Mods deserve credit for not succumbing to the temptation of putting up a load of sticky threads on this Board. They do it on most other Boards and it looks bad and messes up the face of the Board IMO. You have to scroll half way down the page to get to the first "live" thread so to speak. Its messy.

Anyway, back to Cerny's proposal. Because there are a lot of people that don't relish the off-topic stuff and they must be respected, a sticky for off-topic stuff and general chat would allow those of us who want to chat about such things do so, without the worry of the thread being hi-jacked by some-one who doesn't like the material and wants it shut down. If everyone is aware that this thread might contain some borderline stuff, they can't then complain about the content because they're made fully aware that that is the purpose of such a thread and they should never click into it.

It could be a thread where sensitive people would avoid and it would give those who enjoy debate a forum to do so without interfering with anyone else's threads. Obviously the same rules would apply in that racism etc would be outlawed entirely but generally the thread would be allowed run its own course without too much interference.

In this way, threads would no longer be hi-jacked by people (including myself) wanting to debate particular things and people wouldn't get pissed off. It would also give a voice to posters who enjoy discussing thorny subjects without being unduly worried about upsetting persons of a somewhat delicate disposition.

I honestly think this could be a win-win for everyone on the Board.

Well done Cerny! I always knew you had it in ye, old son!

That's a fair post. When I saw it first my immediate reaction was that's a bit strong for a footy Forum.

Didn't bother me in the slightest but perhaps we should be mindful of younger people being able to log in and see such images.

Swords: Your post above effectively summarises the winds of change and the kind of direction we need to consider. I think we're on the right lines there.

Basic premise is our conclusions must be a win-win that caters for all hoops on here as far as is possible and not just the more moral majority. But it must also be safer than we have atm. Thanks for that.

Until f*cked up trolling is stamped on hard nothing changes for those of us on the end of it.

Sorry Brixton but I'm not with you at all on how this is being handled. Very disappointed that the bullying and bigotry and sexism will be allowed to continue same as before.

From where I stand Imaz, you are just as guilty of hurling insults as any one. Perhaps we could lock you and Swords in a room together to sort out your differences. Seriously you two need to either reach an agreement or just ignore each other, but I don't see that all the blame lies in one quarter.

I thought we had reached an agreement until he started slinging insults again.

He won't change so he'll just have to either put up or shut up. He can't have it both ways.

Statements like that don't help either. How about a third option for the pair of you: grow up.

It is rather telling that, on a thread about how to improve the board, the usual suspects show up to have a go at each other!

Think I may have slightly misunderstood the question being asked here. If there needs to be an x-rated equivalent of the Newcastle board’s “sexy poll” on here then that’s okay with me, not that I would expect to be a regular visitor to it.

To further stretch the pub/not606 simile to almost breaking point, I guess this would be our “lock in” section. A sort of afterhours area where it is implicitly understood that the talk can get bawdy and the behaviour a little more rowdy than normal. All safe in the knowledge that the kiddywinks are tucked away in bed and no passing innocents can accidentally pop in and be shocked by the lack of the usual decorum.

Sounds like a good idea to me. <ok>

Your comments appreciated, Brix. I echo all the above positive posts thanking you and Nutso for doing such a great job. In particular, a huge effort going through all the replies and even giving us our own page number! Respect!

Nothing more to add at this stage, but I'll watch the space...

That TIMK is one of the things this exercise appears to be concluding. However, should that kind of thing turn out to be the answer we wish to put forward, there are indications that the site owner may not be as accommodating as he was with Newcastle... We'll see what gives on here before we can even think of approaching Mick with our proposals.

Not interested in anyone telling us who's a prat. We know that already.

What we're interested in here is what and how the board wants the developing stuff to be organised and modded in future.

From the looks of it, the board has evolved into a community. Members of that community have expressed or otherwise demonstrated a wish / need to vary the primary QPR / football content to include off topic (OT) items of various kinds. Our purpose is simply to identify the range of such topics and thence the ways we want them presented and managed.

If we fail to achieve this, our basic rules and standards will be applied to anything falling under the heading of unacceptable content and practices. Bans for non-compliance will inevitably ensue, as will related feelings of injustice. The implications of this may impact negatively against the kind of community spirit we have gained.

We need to think carefully about this. Do we stick to what we have - and lose a number of users? Or do we get smart, recognise and respect our different wants and needs (including the 'fight club' aspect) and try to accommodate them in ways that don't adversely affect children looking in or other sensitivities?

    Your choice at this stage.

Couldn't agree more. That's exactly what I had in mind also.

I wouldn't have come up with a descriptive analogy like that though TIMK. <ok>

I genuinely think this is the way to go. Its very reasonable and is a good compromise between the two "ideologies" we have on here.

I would go along with what TIMK and Swords suggest if this avoids upsetting certain classes of reader e.g. those under 18. Two sets of rules therefore, one for each forum. One a veritable institute of football technology and advanced tactical thinking. The other like something from a Quentin Tarantino film...
