Very good thanks for asking. See what you meant about the food though. By time we got to the evening buffet it was tepid and non too appetising. We decided on eating in the hotel restaurant which was very good but very pricey. I had reindeer pizza . The flight was a mare though. Hit some artic winds and the turbulence was a shocker. Overall very good though.
Hmm I'd heard differently, from a fairly well connected local. Hence the almost limitless budget concerning rennovation and advertising. Food was pretty decent when we went in the summer, butchery isn't too bad either.
but do the butchers pork pies have jelly in them.....hahahahaha. (there's a hole in my bucket, dear lisa!)
Last time I was down I asked my sister where we could get a reasonable pub meal and she suggested the Half moon at Elloughton. It was OK, much better than ther last meal I had at the Triton, which was very average.
No definitive answers on pub food then?! Looks like Hotham Arms, Hope and Anchor (Ferriby and Swanland pubs aren't up to much I don't think) The Star. Pipe and Glass (though Michelin star food I don't think qualifies as 'Pub Grub') Pubs in this area need to get there act together, loads of them all falling into the **** food trap. People will travel for decent food at a fair price.
Never encountered a 'Christingle' until I came down here, 16 years ago. Cherubs with oranges and doting, blubbing mums. WTF does it all mean? And did it come from Scandinavia? Or America? Or Tesco?
Not been to Hotham Arms for years, went with parents then and the landlady was a scary MILF who was very O.T.T. Might have to pay it another visit. Hope and Anchor is spot on! Best Fillet steak i have had for many a year (just beats a home cooked Nick Robins one) and the Mixed grill should only be attempted by real men!
The Hope and Anchor serves Old Mill, which in itself is a decent reason to visit, though the last time I went I thought it smelt like an old peoples home.
Nipped into the Bay Horse in Cherry Burton a few weeks ago. Cracking Sunday Roast, all the trimmings and 20 real ales to have a go at.
Nice one, I'll give it another go then, I don't think I've ever been to the Bay Horse, so I'll give that a try too.
I once took a party from work there consisting of two Japs, two yanks, two paddies and bunch of goolies. Joe was joking with them all, it made their night every time I go to Japan they always ask me about 'that' landlord. I told him the American guys named before they turned up and Joe welcomed them his way, one of the guys was 6' 7 25 stone (nice fella) Joe didn't let him pick his meals, he picked them for him and kept bring different dishes out, liver and onion starter, steak, fish you name it the big fella loved it.
The New Inn in Tickton does a decent bar meal. Think it was a curry night when i last went in there to eat (first and last time). It was all homemade- the curry dish and the naans, things to go with the starters etc etc. All done from scratch. Expensive like. Mind you it's not like you're talking about going to Maccy d's.
