I miss waiting a week for your holiday photos to come back. The anticipation was ace. I've forgotten but what was that place on Hedon Rd that was really cheap? Anyone?

if you want to buy dSLR have a look on CEX ( webuy.com ) , they are quite competitively priced , a Nikon d5100 body is under 150 quid and 200 with the stock lens!!! offers a long guarantee & a good and simple returns policy .
If u do, go for A Grade , The website is better suited to you searching a specific camera though so a bit of research is handy lol.

as for a lens the stock lens with most camera is sufficient for most hobbyist work, though certain wildlife shots may need something quicker and/or more "zoooom"

I love extremes of photography , macro solar and astrophotography with my telescopes - saving for a prime lens myself

You really need to stall them then point them nose downwards to damage them.

I've had a look on Jessops website & based on what you've advised narrowed it down to these 3 (one with / without an additional lens). Are they value for money & will they be user friendly?

Happy - Wildlife will be what's seen on walks around local nature reserves, Deleamere Forest etc, so just talking birds, squirrels etc. We're also season ticket holders at Chester Zoo so could stretch to a bit of captive animal close ups.

Mega pixels are a bit of a con, people automatically think the more the better, but unless the lens is good enough its largely irrelevant.

My advice would be to get a cheap (£150-£250) DSLR off ebay and learn to use it, you'd be amazed how many people buy fancy cameras expecting them to take good pictures only to be disappointed, it takes a fair bit of studying and practice. Most people buy a DSLR and then just use it as a point and shoot which is a waste.

If you get into it and decide you like using a DSLR then you can upgrade (it gets rather pricey though). If not invest in a decent hybrid camera which will still take great pictures and would be much simpler (also cheaper).
 
i've got a Fujifilm bridge camera it cost £130 from Argos. It does everything and has a really good zoom.

Regarding local scenery. I recently did the Riverside Quay public footpath which goes on top of the warehouses. (You can see someone riding a bike at sunrise on it at the end of the city of culture
promotional film). Good views of Island Wharf, The Pier and the Deep looking east and the Humber Bridge looking west and of course the magnificent Estuary itself.

Delroy Stanton. They later opened stores as Just Films including Jameson St, Bransholme Centre, Hessle and Beverley.

dead bod wharf either sunset or fog its the best
welton water overlooking the humber
priory rds stables and farmland behind
brantingham capturing sun through the trees
beverley westwood - black mill and the trees
drewton area , the tunnel entrances
St Andrews dock entrance
South Dalton Church !!

Kilnsea sound mirror and sea defences
Londesborough gardens and estate
welton spring
 
Don't ask her to strip completely at the first shoot. Let her take her time to feel comfortable with your style. Make sure it's warm and there are no cold draughts and eventually you'll get her there.

Have you thought about the convenience of a compact so even with a case you can put it in your pocket ? eg Panasonic TZ60 with a 30x zoom.If a long zoom is important have a look at the Canon Powershot SX50 NS which has 24-1200mm zoom.

Just about anywhere at sunset/sunrise. Got some great pics at Tophill Low using polarising filter and changing the ambient light setting off an old Nikon D40.
