Bah Humbug I agree with the following Nov 12th at the earliest approach to Christmas advertising & decorations - Wal-Mart here have been going strong for the past couple of weeks. Generally with our family Christmas interior & exterior decorations go up Dec 1st at the earliest (kids lover this) and I bring in and set up a freshly cut tree about a week later, plus everything is always down in January by Twelve Night. Electric bills are expensive enough without wasting all those extra weeks of lighting. Several of my early bird neighbours had their exterior lights up last night (Nov 12th), one with rather annoying red flashing lights all over the eaves & roof of their house, and some likely will still have everything flashing away in February! Calgary financier Brett Wilson is calling on businesses to hold off putting up Christmas decorations until after Remembrance Day on Nov 11th He says early Christmas displays and sales show a lack of respect for war veterans. Wilson says the 10 days between Halloween and Remembrance Day should be free of Christmas sales and decorations.
