OT: Mafia game thread starts Sunday 8pm 14/9/14

My strategy is 1 vote for each person, last time I voted for IBWT since he was top of the list with 0 votes but instead of reading why (and that I would change to keep everyone at 1 vote each) he just started spouting ******edness about voting for me for revenge

I think its funny that a game like this requires people to talk yet the ones that do get voted off first #idiots

 

nah I was posting the thread when i got a break between stuff yesterday then was doing up pms while this got posted.

I was merely clarifying that rather than how milk ran it i decided to send everyone a PM with their particular role, how it works (even if just a plain old townie) as a reminder the game was starting a 8pm and would run daily.

I felt it best to do so and had nothing to do with any messages on the board... It took me 15mins and some angry looks from the missus as i ignored the kids doing it. I'd literally finished sending all of the messages and then read the thread and found that so i commented... nothing to read itno anything i've done as I don't mind which way it goes or who you kill.

 

It's also a good idea to not 100% trust anyone even if they're trying to be helpful (not even me). That's how MITO fooled people last game. He was acting very helpful so people thought he was innocent.

Helpful people are frequently innocent, but they can be Mafia playing the game well. (MITO last game).

Several tactics Mafia make:
1) Try to hide. Try to be inconspicuous and hope that they survive long enough.
2) Go crazy putting the blame on people and overcompensate for their role. (but some townies do this).
3) Try to act normal. Try to be helpful. This tactic normally works... until you notice that they miss some obvious logic out of their helpful summary... or refuse to accept something obvious.
4) Sometimes Mafia try to "distance themselves" by voting for each other in inconsequential votes. This is why I think having 3 main candidates is a good idea. If three people are neck and neck- and outcome of vote is unknown it's more risky to place a "distancing" vote. Also why when one candidate runs away with the vote it doesn't help... because even Mafia will vote against their own (to distance themselves) if it is a foregone conclusion that person is dead.

Always best to never have just one run away candidate to vote off (unless he is obviously Mafia beyond a doubt).

 

Well I think Bodanki is the obvious choice so far. He got in nice and early to vote, voted for a non-Liverpool fan to avoid a mob, played the innocent guy and then lurked in the thread keeping track without commenting....

If that's not mafia I don't know what is!

 

Gotcha... then for now, I consider you "totally unknown" too... thought I saw you on the list of people who hadn't voted yet.

I was just being myself like how i helped uir this morning..

 

I didn't mean to imply you were influencing the vote... merely that within 2 minutes of Gerrez's post there was a post saying all roles had been PMed.


To be fair to Gerrez, he was one of the last people on the list- so running under the assumption that PMs were sent out in order to people- he would have been one of the last ones to receive a PM... so might have received his PM sometime in that two minute window.

 

Just to be clear I'm definitely not mafia, so if someone try's a late vote to tip me over to the most votes, that's your mafioso right there

 

Sky has been on the forum- but not posted a comment or a vote here.
However, he was very quiet last game too.

Don't know if Magic has been on the forum.

 

The PM was at 3.06pm. My comment was at 3.09pm. As I said, I hadn't seen it as I was on my phone. Why would I admit the PM came first otherwise?

 

Bodanki and nozzle have acted like mafia me thinks... Gerrez and billy both have a hidden role but I don't think mafia....

Everyone else im still considering total unknown for now...
