Saw that prog, Utter nonsense. We need to look at Germany, France and Italy who all have much less skewed politics/economy. I thought the narrator was glib, illogical and plain wrong.
Is that it? You've not exactly given a very convincing argument. Did you write the Allams submission to the FA?
I thought he trivialised the programme to the extent it made me lose interest/not trust it anyway. I'm making a cycling analogy so I'm going to dress up in cycling gear and go to a velodrome with real cyclists etc. Just make a ****ing documentary.
I didn't need to give a very convincing argument- a short concise opinion was enough. As a bona fide gesture to anyone still awake, I cited an alternative European model.

It's the dumbing down mentality. I don't think it's because they have bad ideas it's all about ratings and keeping the audience even if they only look at the colours and flashing lights.
What about Carol Vorderman on W1A? I first found out about her when she presented the World Chess Championship TV programme many years ago. I've seen pictures in newspapers but her TV career seems to have dived downmarket. Last night on W1A she looked attractive from a distance but when you got close she looked like a melted barbie doll.
You mean: "We need to look at Germany, France and Italy who all have much less skewed politics/economy." So we are doomed unless we change our whole politico-economic system to be similar to some amalgamation of Germany/France/Italy? I think it's more sensible to come up with a specific strategy. Would you say: "Hull City should be more like Arsenal/Manchester United/Liverpool"? or would it make more sense to set out approaches to development football, recruitment, etc.?
Germany, France and Italy all have a much less centralised economy and political structure. The mayors over there are not just tame old councillors, regions have real power and autonomy. There is nowhere near the disparity between the capital/one region of the country, and the rest, that we have in this country. London strangles this country and sucks up a disproportionate amount of funding- even Evan agrees on that. On April 13th it will a minimum amount of hours spent in that smug, over-hyped ****hole.
The mentioning of the line to Selby, just reminded of me getting the train to York via Selby in the sixties to watch city away at York City. There was someone with a transistor radio playing Waterloo Sun Set by the Kinks, which always reminds me of this game. Just saying like.
That was the main thesis of the programme. I would be in favour of more local power but I can't see central politicians relinquishing their power. I totally disagree with you about London. I moved to London when I was 21 (40 years ago) and at all the stages of my life it has had unlimited opportunity regarding studying/entertainment/women/jobs/accommodation/business. It's a fantastic place.
Fo a few hours, and then.... It's alleged positives and its well-documented negatives need not be raked over for the umpteenth time.
I read an article on this recently. The 'norm' across the world is for a second city to be half as big as the first city. It's the case in most major countries apparently - Sao Paulo to Rio, Berlin to Hamburg etc. Here London is something like 10m isnt it? Next biggest is Brum at under 2m. Having said all that - I dont even know what the 2nd biggest city in France is - Marseille?
So pretty much the same ratio we have here then, seems to me that article was a load of rollocks. Actually if we're talking cities to visit probably the most renowned - Im not saying best - in the world are Paris, New York and London. So this whole model fails on two of the Big Three. Brilliant....
That is why it is right and not bollocks. The whole point is that when a city is so big compared to other cities it draws resources from the rest of the country.
