The few "good" things the royal do could be done by government employees for a fraction of the cost.

We can pay Rowan Atkinson a few grand to go smile at starving orphans in Africa, or Billie Piper to have a fancy dinner with a visiting South American dictator.

No reason to spend the Mega millions on royals to do this.
