Thanks for that. I certainly wasn't meaning to dispute your claim, especially as the far reaches of my mind seem to remember hearing this years ago! I think the amount of teams playing on a Sunday has decreased by incredible amounts throughout the land. Reasons that i can think of are:- - The cost of hiring pitches has increased by far more than salaries have. - The amount of players that are now under contract to their Saturday club. Thus they can't play for a Sunday team. - The shortage of referee's. - A decrease in players that used to watch on a Saturday & play on a Sunday. Mainly because they are now watching their team play on a Sunday thanks to sky etc! - All day opening of pubs. Sunday lunchtimes after playing football were the best two hours drinking of the week! - The amount of players that now don't have a shower & go to the pub afterwards. Many prefer to go home & wash! Thus the social side of playing has gone. It's very sad really & means that today's youth are missing out on exercise & teamwork. That shows what an old bogger I'm tutning into!
