Nah, I'm very defensive of the city, is that alien to you because you don't feel the same about London?

You're getting really upset and and confrontational over nothing, I've already clarified (immediately) that I had no issue with Liverpool and wasn't insulting the city and that any views I have of city violence apply to other cities in the Uk including (and actually more so) the city I live in.

Despite this very clear clarification you've continued you're ludicrous attempts to draw me into some argument about Liverpool. You're overly defensive of the city you live in to the point of exploding at people who have meant literally zero offence. That's called having a chip on your shoulder.

Nope, you're typing reams of bollocks to try and squirm out of accepting you made an uncalled for remark about Liverpool.

I'm just laughing at your antics.<laugh>

    now an example

I had occasion recently to take a guy with me out to germany who owned his own company. he was a technician in a company before it went to the wall and he did after sales services and second hand machine sales for the machines he used to build. He is now acting as a pseudo agent for uk and us for a machine i bought.

He compared is friend to himself. This friend like him lives/lived in london. this friend went to uni and ****ed about for years having fun. this freind is now in seattle or vancouver wherever amazon is based and working at quite a high level and said he'd only do it for 5 years then get the f out as they burn executives up. he'll have his apartment in london (1.5mil) completely paid for out of the options he is getting.

So.... which guy got it right? Or did they both get it right? you can decide.

In other words... theres no right or wrong, just have you get up and go and sense or not. Those of us with sense get everything we can while its on offer.... and of course there are those who have more get up and go and kahoonas to move round more and advance fast

my attitude is there'll be a long long life after work potentially so my priorities are:

    1. Kids education including uni to be saved for

    2. house to be paid

    3. fullest contribution possible to pension and any extras i can afford

I will be pushing mine as hard as i can to do something they want to do at as high a level as they can, encourage them to keep doing something all their lives... but most of all I worry abut their get up and go. kids these days seem to have none so i want to try educate them to work for that they get via pocket monies etc.

Again, I feel those who frequent this board are more than capable of reading through the thread and seeing exactly what I meant :)

I realise that having got a little emotional now that for you to admit you just took my comment the wrong way is difficult, but anyone with the ability to read can follow exactly what happened so you're probably better off just biting the bullet buddy :)

Nope, I took your comment as you meant it and no amount of your squirming will change that, you should consider that from the moment I called you a Tory **** you've almost combusted trying to twist it that you were ok to say it and that I somehow never had the right of reply.<whistle>

You're first reply I thought was a joke, a bit of banter. I liked your comment and then light heartedly clarified that wasn't what I'd meant.

You've then lost the plot... Again proving you have a chip on your shoulder :)

You've genuinely taken my comment the wrong way and despite repeatedly pointing this out to you your desperate to get a rise out of me lol

Nah, I was entitled to my response to you and you have clearly taken offence because I had the audacity to defend Liverpool from stereotypical bs.

Your squirming has almost broken the fishing line.<laugh>

I think you should probably go back and read through the last couple of pages again. I didn't take your response badly at all, I liked your response and light heartedly clarified what I had meant. That should of been the end of it but for some reason you really want to get me to admit I somehow think Liverpool is full of thieves and violent criminals? It just all seems a little ridiculous. If you read back I genuinely think you'll realise your mistake...

As for fishing, I didn't realise it alluded to the idea of repeatedly claiming the same thing in the face of reasoned discussion for the sole purpose of saving face after having been shown up to have a huge chip on your shoulder :p

It's very HIAG-esque to get upset about something and then when you realise you've got it wrong to somehow claim your wumming. Bad form old chap.

You're analogy of the fishing rod suggests a wum attempt. I don't think your wumming I think you genuinely got upset after taking my comment the wrong way.

On re-reading your fishing rod comment I think you were actually referring to this idea that I'm "squirming" rather than you being a wum. See how easy it is to take a comment the wrong way when it's worded in a way that it could have more than one meaning?

The fishing rod was to show I trying to get you to really man up and tell me any reason you can think of that would make you think I was ashamed of the place as you wrongly implied, but you conveniently dodged that.

But I stand by my assertion.

I've not said you're ashamed of Liverpool, I've said you've got a chip on your shoulder. Obviously the reputation or stereotype Liverpool has amongst some people has left you very quick to rise to any comment about Liverpool even if it's not meant offensively. Your reaction has been completely over the top and totally unnecessary given my clarification of my comment in my following reply.

You're initial mistake of reading my comment as a judgment on Liverpool was an understandable one but the continued attempts to look for a problem where there isn't one after receiving clarification on my comment is just ridiculous...
