. If I can see Sinn Fein getting into power would be a problem for Ireland and Britain then so do the ptb up north and across the channel. No one wants them in power. The police could have applied to court to have him longer but no application was made. The only real outcome of this is that Gerry Adams have been splashed all over the world media with the word murder. Whether he is guilty of not is neither here nor there in the context of why he was arrested, whether you hate or like him is irrelevant. I think this was a political hatchet job. Why? Because everything they know they have known for quite some time and should have done this long ago, you don't have to make major arrangements to bring someone in for questioning, the timing of this arrest is uncanny.
You can equally speculate that,as the Boston College tapes were made available to the PSNI that only after careful consideration of that information did the feel that they had sufficient and credible evidence for interviewing Adams under caution. After all they could face a charge themselves of False Arrest if the resons for their arrest was insufficient to satisfy a court. However, it appears that the PSNI and Adams have been negotiating this interview for months but neither side is talking about how those negotiations were conducted. The only thing we do know is that Adams presented himself for interview and that the arrest only took place once he had arrived. I strongly doubt that the PSNI would not have made it clear to Adams and his lawyer that this was the procedure that they would follow before they arrived. I don't know if this is or is not a hatchet job. From what I see in the media SF do not appear to be doing themselves very much good by at least appearing to suggest that they will withdraw their support for policing in Northern Ireland and claiming political skulduggery on a number of levels. At the moment it bothers me not one jot so I'm out of here and et the people of Northern Ireland sort it out.

I honestly don't care. NI has a particular set of circumstances. So I'll stay on the Mainland and let them get on with it. Anyway, I'm more worried about why Labour are letting the Tories make hay about the economy when it's such a skewed recovery that its almost a fraud on the majority of the population.
