Do you deliberately want to make an effort to insult or does it just come naturally?

If you truly want to learn more about what Eternal Life means to a Christian then I suggest you do a little reading on the topic before spouting ill-informed opinion. Then, perhaps you would not make comment like "God wants to torture them forever for not believing in Jesus."

 

As with any thread on our board its gonna contain disagreement, humour, analysis, pictures, possibly sexual references and has been/will be derailed at some point.
Livtor has a mission on this thread, to point out that only his view matters and that anyone that disagrees is thick, I take a lighthearted view to things on here because its not reality and it has no bearing on my life or my future.

Well its like this, if not for my belief and faith I wouldn't believe in Christmas and December 25th would be just another beans on toast day and there'd be no prezzies, I wouldn't have received all those Easter eggs over all those years, there wouldn't be a reason to have the 17th of March off each year to celebrate the life of some feller that rid Ireland of snakes and is the reason for a brilliant day on the gargle

It would I suppose be hypocritical of non believers to celebrate religious days/festivals and its kinda sad that even if in the end they're correct in their theory we believers have had a ****ing ball all these years thanks to nothing.

totally agree on the being a hypocrite part ie celebrating xmas etc, but i only do it because i have youngsters, so suppose it depends on your definition of being a hypocrite,its more of a money making scam now days to me than any thing else(easter mothers day etc etc), as when they are older they will be told to get to ****

 

By the way folks, Myself included, pure science wouldn't condone the use of ET as an argument against the existence of God. (Same goes with my dolphins)

Q. Do ET's exist?
Science: Speculation? Laws of probability in a universe this size suggests they do....BUT bottomline. No evidence has been discovered to prove they do.

Q. How did the universe come into existence. Science: Speculation? Could be any theory from a God to Big Bang to.etc...BUT...bottomline? No definitive evidence proving any current theory...

Q. Does any other animal have sentience?
Science: Not enough evidence exists to prove it as fact.

Q. Does God exist?
Science: Not enough evidence to prove of his existence.

Q. Did evolution happen.
Science: The overwhelming evidence available to us suggests it did, compared to evidence available for alternative theories.

Science isn't about giving an alternative to God, ID etc..it's a methodology to follow in attempt to prove or disprove something. Really irritating me when it's painted as two opposing camps. Even the stuff they are sure about there is always the acceptance and encouragement to challenge/test any theory and produce an evidence based alternative.

Science is not an alternative to religion.

Now, this is why Liv I'm in the middle. I'm not a scientist so unlikely I personally will discover the definitive proof to any of these questions.

The proof isn't there and I can not follow anything on faith alone. Just not that type. So that leaves me with living with the absence of a divinity in my life and an absence of certainty that this is it. I'm only certain I'll wake up until I don't.

Can we try something else? Do you believe in good and evil? I'm assuming if you do it would be an internal concept rather than external influence?

Frank - it's the 'prove it' statement that, for me, is silly. Wanting scientific evidence and quantifiable theories for 'something' that exists outside of science is irrational. Always insisting on a scientific approach limits investigation and stunts lateral thinking. Science actively seeks advancements in all fields; research to prove or disprove current knowledge; facts and figures and bones and soil samples.

People of faith don't need evidence or soil samples and no new discovery will shake my faith. Some atheists think they are delivering the final hammer blow each time they come up with dinosaurs, brain scan patterns, aliens, new ways of determining age and so on.

Evolution is an ongoing process, not a once only past event. There's nothing that science has come up with that has disproved God's existence. We hear all the time that it should be up to the believers to prove there is a God, not science to disprove it. I say why? A more appropriate response may be why bother? To be a bit flippant - Haters gonna hate.

 

In my lifetime it's always been known as Christmas frank, and that'll do for me.

Same as Saint Halloween's day, I celebrate it every year without feeling hypocritical.
