Certainly did Vince, not that I've owt against cats mind, apart from pissing on my plants.
Anyhow, used to tie the lurcher to the sledge in the winter & have it drag the bairn about.
If it saw owt small & fluffy if would kick into hyperdrive like some kind of turbocharger, lol.

Is a lurcher just like a fluffy greyhound Bill?

There isn't a dog in the world who could take care of a cat unfortunately fella doesn't matter if it small, big, fast or slow. A quick dog in an open field would destroy a cat, but over ten meters in a garden a dog won't get anywhere near it. To deter a cat with a dog 24/7 you need a 24/7 outdoor dog and that's not very nice for a dog plus outdoor dogs stink and wreck gardens more than cats ever will. If you can get hold of moth balls (very tough as they're now illegal) Cats will go nowhere near your beds. I buy reduced or on offer citrus fruits every shop, dice them up spread them round the beds and that seems to reduce the activity. By all means get a dog to love as a pet, but you're wasting you time and money getting one to deal with cats as it will fail and you'll need spend more money on dealing with cats. A stray cat doesn't give a **** if you've got a dog. It'll be in there pissing when you take the dog out.

Brian, Owner of three cats and a keen gardener.

Haha, I'm sure your cats are great though Bri, but as you say these ones seem stray, dirty little bastards. I don't want to deter them from coming in the garden, I just want some kind of animal who would permanently end these feline pests. The fact is, I'm mostly pissed off about the fact that one of them chooses to sleep on my bonnet, and it's full of claw scratches now, so I'm quarter of a step away from enticing them round for milk and tuna and wrapping a 5 wood through their skulls as they eat, the bonnet respray is gonna cost me a fortune!

Oh mate I know, my cats use their litter trays. Stray cats are ****ing ****s, I hate them, I'm a gardener. But the ****ers are protected under the same laws as domestic cats. The problem is cat owners though, strays only knock around areas where there's pussy on offer. So some ****er in your area is keeping unspade females as outdoor cats. Get them to be responsible cat owners and get them done and it will reduce the traffic dramatically. Easier said than done though. I reported the crazy old woman round the corner as it was just a ****ing kitten factory, she'd lost control completely.

Interesting... that's given me food for thought.

I'm certain one is a stray, the other looks like it might just be a nosey bugger, and I'm not convinced it's that one that's doing the pissing. Might source some disco acid and stick it in a can of Tuna, at least it will give me a bit of revenge when I see the cat moonwalking past the window at 50mph with it's head on fire. Knowing my luck the mrs would eat it!

Male westies are good too (if you get the right one) - my father in law's snagged the cat which has been ****ting in my garden on Saturday - ragged it all over - took a fair few scratches from it too but kept going! Although my mates cat took out an Akita! Clever nasty little ****er it was and the Akita went for it and ended up needing quite a big operation - looked like it'd been hit by a car when the cat finished with it!!

So you want to get rid of cats by paying for a farting, ****ting, flea carrier that will cost you a fortune in vets bills and food.

Get a ****ing grip Terry, you must be barking <doh>

My mate's Akita used to eat cats for fun, not on the orders of the owner mind, he didn't condone it, but you can't stop cats getting in your garden, they signed their own death warrant! Having said that, around kids I'd be very wary of a Jap-Akita, even playfully toying they could cause some damage with them reclining claws. I'll also mention the Westie, cheers fella.

I know but it's inevitable we're gonna get a pooch anyway mate, so might as well kill two cats with one stone.

Ideally if I had it my way I'd just borrow somebody's pit bull and **** every cat in the street up then give it back.

I know it sounds woof but I'm at my wits end!

In that case, new topic, anybody know where you can buy a sensor fitted, heat (and piss) seeking drone gun, with night vision?

That's what I'd have mate, looks relaxed and mellowed but ripped and lean in case it needs to be on it's toes. I had a cross breed boxer/labrador when I was a teenager, most loyal dog I've ever seen, just constantly on the lookout to protect it's house and owner, didn't take **** off any animals, just dispatched anything that come within 20 ft of the front door!

Terry, do you have other pets? A big house/small apartment? Garden? Do you both work full time? Will there be someone around during the day, evenings? Do you like going on holiday? How much time could you give walking the dog and then playing with it and otherwise giving it the attention it will need? Time for a puppy or rescue an older calmer dog?

You need to ask yourself these sorts of questions and the type of dog will pick itself. Get any idea of size and appearance out of your head for instance greyhounds need little exercise contrary to being known for racing and Great Danes don't need a lot of space despite being massive.

Just be realistic and honest with yourself about what you can provide the pet with.

(soz if Ive repeated anything I skipped straight to the end of the thread)
