Once came in from a drunk night out and at the time we where doing some work on the downstairs landing. Where a nice long nail was sticking up. The stairs carpet was cream.

I needed a wee so ran up stairs and on the first step stood on the nail. Didnt realise the impact and depth of the injury and proceeded to the top of the stairs. Splattering blood on every step on the way up.

Went to bed.... not realising what had happened and woke to the wife screaming her head off..... I ran out of the bedroom to find what can only be described as a murder scene where it looked like a body had been dragged up the stairs.

Needless to say it took some convincing the insurer what had happened and even had to show him the hole in my foot.

    Priceless.

DIY NIGHTMARE RATING 9/10. In the words of Elvis Costello, "Accidents Will Happen"......especially when you forget to clean up those nails properly.

That's just one of the things that Obi fantasises about. He's funny that way.

As far as I know Obi's a happily married family man with nice kids. I doubt if he'd swing that way.

Bar the factory which is abroad ( in the same place the parts are made) the rest of the dyson estate is in the uk.

The only reason the factor is abroad is for logistic reasons.

What is made in the uk these days ?

James dyson spends over 1 million a a year in designing and making new technology in the uk with a british team.

This is on top of all the other jobs he has made for british people

I don't want to get into a debate about what is made where (as most things written on this thread are either personal anecdotes or tonge-in-cheek remarks) but Henry (the vaccum cleaner that gave me the shiner) is made in the UK.

I once spent the night on the sofa because I had been trying to assemble a flat pack computer table that just wouldn't come together (as the Beatles sang). I had put the assembled bits on my bed, in what I optimistically thought was a reasonable order, after a good few hours of mostly pointless effort.

Bloody thing cost me wasted hours of my useless life, but I finally managed to patch the bastard together. Funny how you always manage to end up with a few useless screws and bits with these flatpack things though.

The inventor of flatpack furniture should be stoned to death, whilst being mocked throughout the stoning as to the whereabouts of his father.
