I am over the moon with their demise and Hope Holloway stays. But I always fear when we get arrogant. We should beat them but we have only 1 win against them since 97' . We never seem to do well against them. Sunderland palace games will be nervy encounters!
They're suggesting taking down the normal scoreboard and putting a cricket one in it's place for the Arsenal game
Just to let everyone know for next week's Arsenal vs Palace - the record win in the Premier League is 9-0 - Man Utd vs Ipswich sometime in the late 90s.
And the biggest away win is also by Man Utd, 8-1 at Forest in 1999 (sub Solskjær scored after 80, 88, 90 and 90).
I dont see them firing him before Arsenal. Unless the fire him and bring a temporary guy in. No need to bring a new manager in only to watch his new club get smashed.
There is class in this league and the best defence in the world will struggle with it when in full flight. Sunday is a big marker for us; we can take a point.
We can lose 5-0 for all I care The big bastard is the SAFC one- that's where we need to do the business and punish them and their 'fanatical' support. I'll take 3 points from those two games right here now. Sperz may be represented by a 6 point Star of David, but the real six-pointer is against the Rokerites.
Palace's chairman backed Hollowhead before the match (rather ironically), so he won't sack him until next week.
The Sunlan game could be their catalyst. They usually beat us (was the last time we beat them that Hesford penalty save one?) Is it fair to say though, even at this early stage, beat CP and Sunlan, and we'll finish above those two? I'd personally suggest it is too early but it would give us a massive edge.
The biggest condemnation of Hollowhead was earlier in the the Summer when he signed players that were eventually excluded from the list of 25. If that wasn't the actions of a manager that had no confidence in his own ability to manage, of a manager driven by panic, then I don't know what is.
Its safe to say that. It would give us at least 17 points by game 12. Bruce thought 10 wins and 9 draws would keep us safe. That would mean at least 5 wins and 2 draws with over 2/3 of the season left to play. I couldnt see either one of them finishing above us with that many points that early.
Rumour is that Hollowhead is resigning because he's out of his depth. He's a **** manager but he has a personality, which makes people like him and that'll only cover your arse for so long. Palace havn't got that much of a bad team. They've got a good keeper, captain and striker but Hollowhead has just bought **** in the summer, like Chamakh. If he goes now and they replace him with a proper Premier League manager then I think they'll start to pick up points. Just don't tell the Palace fans that, ffs.
They usually beat us cos they have a better team. At the moment I don't think they do. They have a ragbag collection of players who are not a team. Their 'dead (black) cat bounce' (see what I did there? ) game was against Swansea and they got trounced. Angus Poyet has a mountain to climb.
