In my opinion it's not politics or religion but economics we need to look at.
Seen somewhere, maybe earlier in this thread, not long ago there were 8 tax payers for each benefit recipient, now its down to 4.
How long ago was it when if you reached 65 to collect your pension, you had done well and then lived for 5 to 10 years more.
Nowadays lts not that unusual to live into 80s, even 90s. No bad thing, better working conditions and huge advances in medical care. But it all costs money. In every industry output per worker has increased. I hear all the time this line that due to our falling birth rate we need imigration, but what are these people going to do ? we already have millions not working, taking money out of the system and contributing nothing.
