Life on mars
Starman
The man who sold the world
Space Oddity
Sound and Vision

And a special mention for The laughing Gnome because of childhood memories

With the forthcoming expo at the V&A
Maybe the greatest artist of all time?

Mrs DT and I are having trouble getting them sorted

Try and list your top 5 Bowie tracks

Nice OT DT - this brings back lots of good memories when my brother and I used to go fishing with my uncle, we used to go every Sunday and drive from W10 to a place called Kennington (Oxfordshire) and fish the back waters of the Thames for Chub and Barbel. My uncle had an old 8-track cartridge stereo in the car (Toyota Celica GT) and the Changesonebowie album which we played there and back every week for god knows how long. For me this album will be his best work and to be frank I lost touch with Bowie after that. So my top five will come from here but really I love every track for the music and lyrics and above all their sentimental value.

One of the very few albums I own which doesn't have a weak track.

I know if my brother reads this thread he will have a chuckle as well!

The other record from those trips was Baccara - ' Yes sir I can boogie' - a little different I know. LOL

Super thread DT, Bowie is amazing. Great artist and such a gentleman.
Funny as we were actually discussing Bowie during dinner last night.

1. Cat People (Putting out Fires)
2. Heroes
3. Let's Dance
4. Life On Mars
5. China Girl

For me not probably the best but the best of all time

1) Heroes
and in no particular order
Watch That man
New Career in a new town
Boys Keep swinging
Absolute Beginers

100 other contenders

A great OT, Dave. Bowie is a genius. Who's coming through these days with equivalent talent and creativity? It's difficult to see what the next big thing is and, in fact, what hasn't already been done. Here's mine, but the beauty of Bowie is that later I'm gong to regret omitting certain tracks and ones that I'd forgotten will pop into my mind.

Cat People (Putting Out Fire)
Sound & Vision
Ashes To Ashes
Starman
The Man Who Sold The World

Special mentions:

Life On Mars?
The Little Drummer Boy (yes, really... It's Christmaaaaaaaaaassssss)
Let's Dance
China Girl
The Jean Genie

There are always more....

I've just come off YouTube to have a listen to Bowie and remembered when he featured on Queen's 'Under Pressure' another brilliant track from an incomparable rock group. Anyway there are some tools in this world that actually believe that Queen took the rift off of Vanilla Ice. Wtf....... Too much Gangham shyte nowadays in this throw away, I want it now world.

Dont forget the new Wire album this month

Unfair question DT, but here goes (and I have picked a few to avoid repetition, but number 1 is the first single I ever bought, and Ziggy Stardust was the first album)

All the Young Dudes
Oh You Pretty Things
Drive in Saturday
Always Crashing in the Same Car
Moss Garden

Actually think Transformer is his towering achievement (along with Ronson), and big respect to anyone who hangs around with Iggy.

Now you're talking, Transformer still sounds brilliant and was certainly Lou Reed's finest...

The first concert I went to was David Bowie at Earls court in '74 the ticket cost £4 from a school mate who had a spare which was a fortune in those days. I loved it so much I went the next day and bought a ticket from a tout who sold me a £2.50 ticket for £3.50 walking away I looked at the ticket and it said obscured view and so I was really pissed off as I thought I was ripped off. Anyway the ticket turned out to be at the side of the stage it felt almost in touching distance and my obscured view was a guy with a hand held camera that only got in the way a half a dozen times.

The next day I went to tell my mate about the great view for a £2.50 ticket I had at the front near the stage but noboby believed me, didn't care went to see Bowie about 10 more times over the years and never had a view like that again.

Space Oddity
Diamond Dogs
Time
Station to station
Ziggy stardust
Five years
To be honest 5 is not enough

Am I in a minority of one in thinking Bowie is overrated ?? After reading this thread maybe I'm missing something and might have to give him another go
