They are all linked. Benefit fraud, tax fraud, bent MPs, tax investigators, benefit investigators, benefit payments, government propaganda, minimum wage, working tax credits, higher company profits, shareholder dividends, richer MPs, richer political party benefactors. The truth's there, it just needs to be looked at a little deeper with more emphasis on those that have a lot rather than those who have a lot less. Whilst it pays to be out of work people will sit at home. The problem though, isn't to do with the amount of benefits people get, it's all to do with the seriously suppressed salaries of the working folk, especially at the lower end of the pay spectrum. None of my posts have been aimed at Tobes.
I'm a bit lost on this one to be honest. All Tobes has done is say he isn't fond of dole bums. Well I think that's what he said. And if he did, and I think he did, then I agree with him. These ****s who ponce off the state are a sub class that need a wake up call. Like I said before anyone who has a legit reason for claiming has my full sympathy but I've seen first hand a hell of a lot of professional scroungers who don't intend to lift a finger in their whole lives. It's not a lifestyle choice to be on the rock n roll and when you get people grafting taking home less than these scrounge bags then it highlights the system is f**ked. I shall now step off my soap box. Thank you.
I'm not bothered whether he's right or not, haven't read much of the thread, for some reason he seems to provoke madness.
Not being funny mate, but if you've not read the thread then you're not being objective. Do me a favour and read it, and then let me know why I've had a tirade of unprovoked abuse here, as it's lost on me.
No ones forcing you to post on another clubs board, if you don't like it here you know what you can do.
It was an OT thread, so I don't see what that's got to do with anything tbh, plus it's a multi club forum anyway.
Not what you said, as you were talking about 'your board' like it makes a difference. I wasn't moaning anyway, more bemused as to the reason for the onslaught.
Back on topic, there was another programme on last night, some beauty pageant thing, also set in Hull. I didn't see the benefits one but my girlfriend had this one on (honest) and it reflected badly on Hull I thought. The people featured were all dozy buggers, and one lass worked in a fish factory in Grimsby, which gave the impression it's a nearby suburb of Hull and promoted the usual fishing town bollocks. She kept talking about wanting to 'get out of this town' meaning Grimsby but it was edited poorly and could have come across that she meant Hull.
I don't think that the programme made Hull out in an undeservedly bad light. It mentioned various facts showing that Hull does have higher unemployment and more related 'problems' than the country at whole does. Some of the people featured seemed genuine in wanting work and to get on in life - some clearly not. Also it shows a tougher approach from the government and it's expectations upon those claiming benefits and I was particularly pleased to see one lady start working for Iceland as a delivery driver. As much as these kind of programmes show some of the worst aspects of individuals/society, such as deprivation, laziness, blame-everyone-but-me etc - they also show hope and determination in other parts.
Only because of the unrealistic boundaries. It means the stats are flawed as they don't compare like for like. The programme was poorly presented and iresponsible in many ways, mainly to promote people to talk about it. It's poor tabloid tv. Anyone reckon that programme has enhanced those peoples employment opportunities? Is that responsible journalism? There's a few reasons why they don't have a programme like that that shows how to get out of the cycle, or a way of creating a better system of helping people when hard times come.
Well, I got a phone call from my ''employment advisor'' yesterday informing me I had an interview this morning at a local company. I didn't even know they'd put my CV forward for the job. I'll find out later this week if I was successful and if I was then I start on the 4th August. I couldn't believe how many other blokes was sat there waiting their turn, I thought I was in a queue for the FA cup final tickets. There must have been a handful of blokes in my age group and the rest of them I wanted to put over my shoulder and burp 'em. Not holding out much hope.
It was indeed irresponsible and poorly made. The narrators mocking of what appeared to be decent folk trying to get by was plain nasty at times. An example was when the young lass did the pregnancy test, "Rose and her pound shop test to see if they're having a benefits baby' Disgraceful.
The narrator was just reading the script, put together by probably a team of posh media-type idiots (think of Bubble in Ab Fab), and in all likelihood none of them could point to Hull on a map. Hopefully the City of Culture will get TV shows portraying Hull in a good light. rovertiger, hopefully the company values experience.
