My husband remembers it well. Would say that the photo is taken in the 1950's which, with a wider aspect, shows the back of an East Yorkshire bus heading towards the bus station. The original Guinness Clock suffered war damage in WW2. Philip Larkin wrote about it in the Philip Larkin Trail.

Ah yes, I wasn't paying attention, it is indeed York(whoever took the pictures took some in Hull and some in York, apparently in or around the same day).
Talbot pub was my local used the start off there then go on to the Kestral club, great memories of the trawler crews coming in saying OK lads the beers on us tonight but you made sure you left before closing time as they allways want a huge punch up after.
