Not sure how young you have to be for that to appeal, but I don't think I can ever remember being it!
I was wondering if we would have heard about this incident two weeks ago. We would seldom get any information via the club for injuries etc but we are now being kept in the loop a lot more via the Clubs official channels. The whole Boruc thing was mainly speculation at the time. There are always falling outs during training across the football world it would seem, so is this that unusual? Or could it be that this has happened a few times with him which is why the players have had enough. Could those times when he wasn't in the squad could have been for something similar, we just didn't know about it. A couple of weeks ago under Nicola would the incident have been "Fonte suffered a knock in training but is fit for Saturday while Osvaldo is unavailable for a few weeks."
Not an ice creams chance in hell! Is Oz expected to serve his sentence and come back a reformed character?
I wonder if total transparency from the club is really a good thing ? For instance announcing when players are expected to return from injury ?
Its good that the Club are giving us information to try and put to bed rumours in the press. Although this doesn't seem to work as although Shaw has constantly said he is staying, as has KL, the papers are saying he is still going to go! On the injury front. With long term injuries it probably doesn't do any harm. Everyone knew that Gaston and Dejan's injuries would be weeks not days from the outset so giving us a rough time scale is again good. The problem is if the club start saying players who are borderline are either in or out, that is giving the opposition an advantage as they will know if they need to prepare for a certain player or not.
Was this a reprehensible action which can be overcome or do you expect never to see Dani again in a Saints shirt? I suppose in part it depends on his actions immediately after the incident...was he contrite? Probably not. I suppose Fonte's posting a photo doesn't suggest he has accepted an apology.
I'm not sure. I think a scuffle and a black eye is something that can be overcome. The Hartson incident didn't see either leaving and these things are apparently not uncommon on the training field. It leads me to think that there may have been other incidents with team mates with this one the last straw, if as reported, the playing staff want him out. Its a shame as he has undoubted quality and just needed a longer period to settle in but we seem to be a close knit team, all working together and this incident has certainly undermined it. I still hold hope that this can be used as some sort of motivation for him to turn things round and show what he can really do on the pitch.
It's definitely something that can be overcome, but it's all on Dani to make it happen. If he is willing to do the necessary grovelling and work like a dog to get back into the team's good books then I think the squad will welcome him back and it could even begin a new chapter of his career, if he takes a 'me against the world' attitude I think there is little chance of him playing for the team again.
Think Dani needs anger management lessons...no excuse to say that he can't control it...anyone can learn techniques which give them pause. Can also help in his private life...not suggesting he is a wife beater, but I bet he gets rages which can be hard to live with. It depends if he thinks he has a problem...I suspect he may not...his type sadly think the world is against them without realising the common denominator in all his problems is himself. In the end (though Fonte may disagree ) the one he mainly hurts is himself.
I obviously don't know the Guy, but I'd suspect he will take Mikey's "Me against the world approach" It is a shame because he has the physical attributes to succeed here. Next
Alan Shearer kicked Neil Lennon in the head when he played for Leicester, and got away with it. Mind you, it was Neil Lennon.
From the outside, the Saints squad appears to be a very tight unit and someone (considered an outsider like DO who is new, per seabed as rather arrogant and not willing to muck in) steps out of line by nutting a senior member of the team, I see little chance of a reconciliation. I don't see DO as the type of person who would apologise and certainly not grovel to be accepted following such a serious issue. Most of us have experienced team sports to various levels and can put ourselves into this situation. Would you accept him back? Me...no! Goodbye
Anyone remember this one? Soon got forgotten .... In February 2007 it was alleged that Bellamy attacked team mate John Arne Riise with a golf club during a team training session in Portugal. Both players were fined two weeks wages by the club. The incident earned him the nickname "The Nutter with the Putter".
I had a mate who went to Cardiff uni. Apparently one night he was waiting in a chip shop, when who should walk in, but Mr. Bellamy. A little intoxicated, Bellamy spent the next five minutes screaming and cursing because the establishment was sporting a poster of one Ryan Giggs and not himself, and then stormed out. On a side note, apparently they did bloody amazing chips.
