From March onwards the wheels blew off. There's no structure nor game plan in place. I couldn't work out what the hell they tried to do tonight. As for the calibrate of the players, they aren't fit to lace the boots of players 10-15 years ago.
They lost their first 3 games of last season - ****e can happen to the best. That said, it's now 2 wins in 10 League games so something is fundamentally wrong.
Players not good enough and very sub standard on previous squads, coaching set up is amateurish at best too. Only top quality players we have are Bigger, Tipuric, AWJ and Webb. The rest don't cut the grade for me.
The Ospreys team to play Cheetahs at Toyota Free State Stadium: 15 Dan Evans 14 Keelan Giles 13 Ben John 12 James Hook 11 Jay Baker 10 Dan Biggar 9 Rhys Webb 1 Nicky Smith 2 Scott Baldwin 3 Ma’afu Fia 4 Adam Beard 5 Alun Wyn Jones (Capt) 6 Olly Cracknell 7 Guy Mercer 8 James King REPLACEMENTS 16 Scott Otten 17 Gareth Thomas 18 Rhodri Jones 19 Lloyd Ashley 20 Dan Lydiate 21 Tom Habberfield 22 Sam Davies 23 Kieron Fonotia
Is Tipuric injured? Hassler? Not being disrespectful but who are Jay Baker and Guy Mercer? I really don't know anything about them. The Ospreys are playing like a they are new to the game, frightened to give it a go and make mistakes. The front five have lacked aggression and have been pushed around so far and our back row have been annoymous. In the pack only Tipuric has looked like a true rugby player. Worryingly, Sam Davies has regressed this season. Imo he's been thrown in too soon. He is still very young, and is not ready to be our #1 stand off, not yet. He looks nervous and under pressure and imo needs another year as understudy to Biggar. Hook for me has been very disappointing. disappointing because he's been first choice over Fonatia and because he has played like he hasn't got it in him any more. I thought when it was announced he'd be coming back to help with the coaching and as a filler on the pitch but it seems he's first choice 12. Prefer Fonotia at 12 and I hope Hook isn't being favoured because he's an 'old boy' because that's exactly how he's been playing, like an 'old boy'. I think Tandy and co have done very well up until now but its time for them to move on and continue grow elsewhere. Most other regions in the Pro 14 have upgraded their coaching staff while we are stagnating. We need new blood at coaching level to freshen things up and get some power back into our game. We look bored The Ospreys have carried Welsh rugby since the game turned professional but this year we are struggling so it will be interesting to see in this six nations who will step into the void left by the most successful region in Welsh rugby and be the backbone of the squad. It looks like its going to be the Scarlets as the Blues and Dragons are worse than ever and are just taking the money imo. I'd love Wales to win the six nations but its going to be very tough without a strong Ospreys contingent in the squad. The Scarlets cant do it on their own as the Ospreys have for the last ten years and because of that I don't see many victories for Wales this year. Its going to be tough to get anything out of England, Ireland or France, who have all improved on last year. Scotland might smell blood too so we could end up just about beating Italy. Wales without the Ospreys is like Ant without Dec, Laurel without Hardy, cockles without Lava bread, bacon without eggs, the Himalayas without Everest, still good but just not right
Tips' partner is due to give birth, so came straight home from Venice. Fonotia stupidly kicked the ball away against Treviso - guess this is his punishment. On the hard grounds above sea level, Jay Baker could be like lightning ......
It's a professional game ran by amateurs. Just like the Swans. I'm not a fan of regional rugby tbh, it's destroyed the intense rivallries that the foundations of Welsh rugby have always been built on.
Part of the problem is that there is no money in Professional Rugby. Apart from Bully, every Ospreys Director is unpaid - so yes, they are amateur.
Tandy although a well respected coach all over the rugby world is not the coach for the ospreys. this is plain to see now after defeat by the cheeters. The Ospreys with all their money and all the choice of big players are not showing the form for such a big club and that is down to the way they are coached.....He needs to be replaced now...
