I know that you only included the young stars of recent times, I think it would be worth a mention of adding one Alan Shearer to that Acadamy list as well. And just to remind some of you he scored a hatrick on his debut against Arsenal of all people. So no mean feat........Worth a mention or what?

I hadn't forgotten Shearer, Beddy, I was just using players that were still playing to imagine the team we could have had if we hadn't sold any of our Academy players.....It's got me thinking about an all time Saints Academy XI though...How about?..

David McGoldrick was awesome that game but I sure as hell don't want him back.

I'd put lallana or walcott in the team in place of someone, its so hard who to choose though because its such a good team !

I think we have to look ahead and realistically say, is he going to get in the first team and do a sufficient job in the Championship.

He may well do the latter but getting in the team is the problem. We've been heavily linked with Cork and Danns, as well as other CM's such as Howard, so it's fairly clear we are looking to strengthen in that area. Getting ahead of Schneiderlin, Hammond and Chaplow was a problem in League 1, the league above with another addition is just as hard.

I would offer him one more deal if he's willing to accept he'd be a back-up player, but with Palace interested in him, it's likely he's going to get more first team opportunities there.

Good luck to him if he does go though.
