BWP was marked out by them having an extra man, (No 6) who had time to cover and attack. It is hindsight but BWP should have been sacrificed or Russell, with Prichard coming in.That way we would have had width somewhere. Poor alround except Solly Kermit and Wiggins plus Prichard when he came on and gave us width and vision.
At the time, I felt it was a choice between BWP and Wagstaff to be sacrificed. If we lost 1-0 with our top scorer on the bench, Powell would look right silly. So I can fully understand the decision to go with Wagstaff. That's before you consider the possibility of Wagstaff spending large sections of the 90 minutes rolling around.
on good authority that the players where out clubbing last night at the 02 at 10pm explains why the **** performance
Maybe the reason for that was that Waggy was touch and go to start anyway. Normally when a team underperforms they welcome an early opportunity to put things right, but after having to play almost the whole match with 10 men I don't think they will relish starting again within 46 hours. Look for many changes with Evina, Cort, Hughes, Pritchard, Green, and Hayes starting and Wagstaff given another opportunity, and the omitted regulars filling the bench. I don't think Sullivan or Russell enhanced their claims for a first-team place. We might be happy to settle for a point against Brentford. Fortunately they will be pretty knackered after their match too, but their tails will be up.
Lets put this in perspective Weve lot 2 games both 1-0 close matchs Lost both by a dodgy deflection Team we've lost to LO - drew 1-1 with hudds and sheff utd lost narrow 1-0 to sheff wed S- Beat sheff utd and destroyed sheff wed lost to hudd Weve done very well were top the league Clear by 4 points and got a team who look disappointed when they lose unlike previous years COYR
Great posting couldnt agree more...we are the best side in this league thats why we are top nd we`ll stay there
Yes, i think that any sane person agrees with you - its a great start, a first half of the season that we would have snapped the hand off if offered at the beginning of the season. 9 wins away, with only 2 defeats is quite amazing. However, the concern is, that for the last 7 games (including Carlisle at home in cup, where we were by far the second best in 1st half), we havnt played well at all, and looked second best in most of them... Orient - we were poor - ok maybe affected by sending off, but nowadays 10 men doesnt seem to make much difference. At one stage Sky showed a stat of possesion being 77 percent to O's and 23 to us! Yeovil - maybe a reasonable performance, win only achieved by keeper mistake Oldham - couldnt put them away and paid the price Walsall - seemed 2nd best for most of the game Carlisle - totally outplayed in 1st half 'udd - We got lucky - had little possession. Brentford - again, got lucky, little possession/chances. OK, i know what most of you will say, is that in that group of games, we only lost 1, and thats a sign of a good side that do not lose when not playing very well. Also, you cant expect a team to play well all season and all teams will have a bad patch - lets hope this is ours and that we are back in form for the Sheffield games. Bottom line to me though, is that we have 5 more points than the team in 3rd, plus , in the next 23 games, we have 13 at home, whereas Sheff U have 13 away. Its all in OUR hands - and one thing is for certain, the teams below us would obviously rather be in our position.
