I know some have justifiably knocked the guy for a lack of consistency and I agree he does have a tendency of flattering to deceive at times but the lad has talent for sure. A very frustrating player on times because he showed what he's capable at Villa last year which had most of us asking why he hadn't shown that before. Is it a lack of a regular run? Not sure. But I think he'll do really well at Brighton and good luck to him.
1023: DONE DEAL Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of Swansea midfielder Andrea Orlandi for an undisclosed fee.
Way i read this there is no money. Cancelled his contract apparently. http://www.swanseacity.net/news/article/orlandi-leaves-343541.aspx?pageView=full#anchored
Looks like an offload to lighten the squad. He speaks fondly of the Club and its fans and I hope that if he returns at some stage as an opposition player we'll give him a warm welcome instead of the usual mindless booing from the usual mindless morons.
^ This is on the money, but some on here don't have a clue, what constitutes a quality player!.............
If, we have let him go for nothing, doesnt make sense. The guy has actually played in the PL. He must have some monetary value.
Can't see HJ allowing it to happen unless it was in our interests, TLF. I suspect the deal might not have happened and we'd have been stuck with a fringe player getting nowhere near the first team on high wages. That's something that Laudrup had specifically said he doesn't want because he'd like every senior player to have a shot at the first team. Difficult choice.
Wish him all the best at Brighton , I liked him and thought he was a nice guy whenever I spoke to him.
Including Laudrup by the looks of it given that he's completely ignored Orlandi for almost all of the pre season and then bombed him out at the first opportunity. Despite your objections, I humbly suggest that Michael Laudrup might have more of an idea of what constitutes a "quality" attacking midfielder than anyone else here. Except me of course. I've thought Orlandi was crap for ages.
I doubt Laudrup thinks he's "crap" LR, but for whatever reason he doesn't see him fitting in with us. Whether that's ability in the sense of not being able to cut it in the Prem or some other reason is a moot point. But I agree in one sense, if anyone knows what "constitutes a quality player" it's one of the best to have ever played the game.
Actually that's a fair point. I'm being unduly harsh. He's not crap. He's just a long, long way away from being "quality".
What bit about managers bringing in their favourite players, as did Rodgers don't you understand? try not to confuse that with what constitutes talent, you've been banging on about Orlandi since he got here, how many years was that? you plow a lonely furrow!.................
Yet he seems happy enough with plenty of the players he inherited, like Luke Moore. Another player who I've been a "Lone" voice about at times. Me and Mickey. Great minds thinking alike.
For me it's a pity Orlandi has left, I always thought the lad is a big talent. I feel the PL is more suited to his game than The Championship, I will wish the lad well at Brighton, and thank him for his services to Swansea City.
Aye. You can see how desperate we've been this window to bring in another striker to replace him. Could have nobbed him off to some Championship side then.
