I thought i'd start a thread where anyone, especially the readers but non-posters, could outline their hopes for the new season - safe in the knowledge that the perennial naysayers could not contribute (check the thread title - you know who you are.) Anybody out there? It might offer a glimpse into how the silent majority view varies from the hack mix. Enjoy!

As we stand, I'd hope for somewhere around a tenth place finish. Clearly though there's a long way to go re transfers and with some quality we can finish higher. As I've said previously, it's positive seeing the average age of squad being steadily reduced. No 34 year old Michael browns need apply anymore

Agree - either our much vaunted academy isn't churning out the caliber of recruits we need, or we have the basis of a team for the next decade which can be developed and added to to help us claw our way out. Young, hungry, add experience where required and light the blue touch paper.

I posted this in reply to Sniffer in the Transfer Rumours thread. I think it gives a positive slant on our present defence. Here goes ...

Sniffer, goals against fell into 3 phases last season: pre-Thompson; Thompson; & post- Thompson. The results are interesting (I've used league only results), thus:

Pre- Thompson: Hockaday conceded 8 in 4 games - 2 per game
Pre- Thompson: Milanic conceded 8 in 6 games - 1.33 per game
Pre- Thompson: Redders (both spells) conceded 15 in 11 games - 1.36 per game

Pre- Thompson Total: Conceded 31 in 21 games until Thompson started on December 18th - 1.48 per game

Thompson: Conceded 16 goals in 18 games until he left on April 2nd - 0.89 per game

Post- Thompson: Conceded 14 goals in 7 games until the end of the season - 2 per game

Put another way, Redders conceded an average of 1.61 goals per game without Thompson, and only 0.89 goals per game with him. Nearly twice as much!! Using the 0.89 ratio, we would only have conceded 41 over the whole season. Only Middlesboro conceded less than that with 37.

Redders is no more, so if our present coaching staff is up to the task, we should be able to concede less than 1 goal per game with the players we have.

Another stat that showed Redders never had coaching abilities. Add it to the list.

If our young lads can step up another 10% this season with maybe 2 more signings, would hope for a top 6.

Far too early to tell. Just a run out for the lads. Over 20 players used. Harrogate would have stepped up to top gear, as a LUFC scalp would mean more to them then a Harrogate scalp for Leeds.

Will show Rosler the positions that we are most needing to invest in

Like every other leeds fan I hope for a couple of real head turning quality signings that make us think we are really going for and have a chance of getting promotion. Fed up of "3 year plans', we've been out of the top flight 11 years already.

Big scalp? Harrogate Town are only interested in one big scalp... Guisley....

The only thing Rosler learnt from last night was that out of 22 players , 16 are not good enough to succeed at championship level... He will be gone by October at the latest.

Realism, Anything else would be delusional.
1-1 flattered us. The keeper made a worldly and they missed a sitter with two minutes to go.....
No one was leading the team on the pitch.......
