i reckon it'd be better to just think about this rationally. take al habsi for example. can ANYONE really calim any bloody one of those saves were really great? i mean i watched the game, they were awful, we were awful, he made a few decent but unspectacular saves and the press award him the motm for lack of anyone else Lets look at arsenal... their keeper didn;t produce a heap or wolrd class saves..... they were more like routine and again one has to wonder if this is merely a press fiction at this point. I far more agree with those who feel we simply don't create out and out chances enough and to be frank once one goal goes i nthe keeper thing is quikcly forgotten for that match.
Let's leave aside the reality that we haven't enjoyed very much luck in front of goal this season. One of the main reasons, I believe, that we haven't converted the number of chances that we create is that we are producing those chances inside the 6 yard box. Defenders (plus the goalie) have far more chance of crowding out our efforts. With both Gerrard and Adam having left their 20 yard shooting boots at Melwood, we are not really creating the space in which to allow our strikers 1 on 1 situations with the goalie or last defender inside of the box.
Who says we didn't try? Maybe the right player wasn't available for some reason? I'd rather us limp along than sign the wrong player.
I didn't watch MOTD 2 last Sunday. However, they apparently showed the 12 best saves of the season so far. SEVEN of them were against LFC
The annoying thing in January was the links with top forwards. They reportedly wanted Champions League football (can't blame them) before joining but we needed them to join in January to get the champions League football they craved. Catch twenty-two, chicken and egg, etc, etc
Paisley use to say "Success is the width of a crossbar!" How true that has proven this year. I think we should start with Suarez and Kuyt, given more game time, Kuyt should start banging them in. I know someone has said elsewhere that Kuyt hadn't scored since last May earlier this year but look what he has done since with match minutes. I have tried my hardest to defend Carroll but I am sick of seeing him miss a sitter and then whine at the ref, the opponent and even his own team mates, he just doesn't cut it for me. I know he has improved over the last few games but only by way of assists - We didn't pay £35mil for a player to assist - He was bought as a striker and I just don't see him making it
I too am getting tired of Carroll's lack of movement into the box, but it is a little more endemic than that. The number of times Liverpool have attacked, with one, maybe two players going into the front of the box, and no-one coming in at the back, only for the ball to be over-hit and just land unchallenged at the back of the box. The number of times I've wondered "Where the **** is Henderson?" I think I can count on one hand, the number of times Henderson has ventured into the box this season. Downing is the same! And when you consider that our other two midfield players are "holding", we just never have anyone in the box, so how the hell are we supposed to score? We are too **** scared to get court on the counter, that we never commit enough people forward to make any impact. For some reason, Kenny has lost his bottle.
