To be completely honest, im not that impressed with Carroll. I know he's been injured but i haven't seen any kind of glimpse to suggest he is worth anything near 35 mil. Even players that have been injured that cost a lot of money show glimpses of genius, but Carroll has shown nothing. He scored 2 good goals against City but thats it.

I hope he proves me wrong and im not going to fully judge him yet, but so far if im completely honest im not that impressed.

It is early days and he is still young, so im sure he will improve. But 35 mil, come on that's ****ing ridiculous for a player that seems pretty average to me.

At present i believe Suarez and Kuyt is a better option for us up front.

I agree, but I also think he deserves a chance to prove his worth. Despite the fact we bought him in January he hasn't played too many times, so I still think he needs to establish and understanding with Suarez.

On an unrelated note, how the hell did you get 4 bars! <yikes>

Yeah i will definitely give him a chance and im sure he will come good for us. It's just a little disheartening when a player that cost so much hasn't performed for us yet. It just seems that he has no balance, no first touch, no pace. I know this is likely to change when he gets match fit, but he shouldn't get a starting place just because of his price tag.

I've got 4 bars as i've been a dirty little rep whore <ok>

I think Carroll will defnitely come good this season or next. This will be his first (fingers crossed!) injury-free season, and I expect his pairing with Suarez to start firing. Agree that Suarez / Kuyt look good, though - they seem to have a good understanding of each others game (possibly the dutch league thing).

I've seen glimpses of the potential we bought Carroll for, and, when he realises that, he'll be fantastic.

After all if KK thinks he's right for the team, who am I to question that? Also, Alan Shearer thinks that with the right service and KK magical advice Carroll could become 'unplayable' (hate that expression!).

I still believe the key to Andy Carroll succeeding is Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing. Some players just compliment other players.Peter Beardsley and John Barnes complimented John Aldridge.Dirk Kuyt compliments Luis Suarez.I reckon that when Downing,Adam and Carroll develop an understanding,Andy Carroll is going to be unstoppable. He has the physique and the overall aggression to be a success, plus he has that explosive left foot.I'm 100% convinced its only a matter of time before Andy Carroll explodes into life. Its just god help his victims,he's going to be a living nightmare.I just hope its October when the rags visit Anfield.

Did nobody actually listen to KK when we bought Carroll. He made it clear that he had bought potential and that he was here for the long haul. Certainly not the 'finished article' but already good enough to play for his country. Some people appear to want him to be another Shearer from day one - he may develop into that (or be the 'first Carroll). Forget the money aspect. If he keeps improving then sometime soon he will be talked about as being one of the most lethal strikers in the world. His style of play means that he has to develop not only match fitness but also his strength and power.

    Its too early too tell.
As said on another article.Did Rooney look what Man Yoo paid for him in the World Cup?I reckon if he was valued due to his performances in the world cup you would have got change out of 5p.He couldn't trap a bag of cement. And don't give me guff about ''personal problems''.Shagging whores when your wife is up the duff is not a ''personal problem''.So you cannot judge Andy Carroll on pre-season kick-abouts.I still believe that the key to Andy Carroll succeeding is Stewart Downing and Charlie Adam both natural lefties and when they aim for his bonce...its curtains for the rest of the premiership. He's going to do some serious damage.

    Agreed.

But if you ask me he seems far too one dimensional to ever become world class. I want him to be a huge success and im sure he will do very well. I doubt very much if he will ever be up there with the likes of Shearer though!

I think its far too early to make that judgement. Everybody concentrates upon his arial ability and tend to forget that he also has a shot on him plus that he works with his midfield and other forwards. He does have an eye for a pass and he can link play well. It's not going to happen overnight but even with his 'strengths' there is plenty of room for improvements. You have to note that very few strikers of his type come out of the box fully fledged.

Carroll arrived injured, struggled to shake it off, got a niggle again and is now only coming to full fitness.

The players bought in by Kenny are designed to provide service for him, Suarez will be the perfect foil. Chuck in a bit of confidence, he'll do fine.

    15 plus goals this season.

He won't be in the same class as Shearer.
Most rediculous comment of the day thus far,I could have swore it came from a Trafford, only I saw the name.
How good was Alan Shearer at 22?
As I said previously Andy Carroll just needs players around him that compliment him in the same way John Aldridge did.And Kenny has signed the two players that will get the best out of him when he signed two lefties in Adam and Downing. If Stewart Downing can get balls onto his bonce, then he's going to cause havoc and Charlie Adam will feed him on the deck. Its going to take a litte bit of time before this happens as they have to get used to one another. Its not going to happen over-night.

People say you 'wasted' £35million on Carroll, I say lets compare.

Name - Price -Goals - Opposition (2010/2011 summary)
    Andy Carroll - £35million - 2 - Manchester City (3rd place + FA Cup)
    Fernando Torres -£50million - 1 - West Ham (20th place/Relegation)

    Thats the deal 'justification'.

Meanwhile, will he come good? I think if we play the right system he could do well, I suspect a 4-3-3 would be good as Suarez and Downing will go out wide and leave Carroll in the middle to do his thing.

I honestly believe his shots, accuracy and power, go unnoticed. For every header, I see a shot. (Manchester City match anyone?)

The problem is with you KPR is that if a player hasn't played for Liverpool they are ****. Sorry but i'm more realistic than that.
