BBC pointswest said "Thousands lined the street in East Bristol and thousands more fans waiting at the Mem" http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b05vsj6t/bbc-points-west-25052015 Happy with that
Wasn't that the year the 82ers sang You sold us down the river to joe Jordan when he left the dug out to tell them to behave
the mirror has done a u-turn http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/row-zed/worst-ever-start-open-top-5759258 It says: OK, hands up. We'll admit it. We MIGHT have jumped the gun. When we saw this picture on The Pirates' Twitter account - showing the squad on their way to the start of their parade - we laughed. After all, it doesn't exactly look like the streets are lined with followers. HOWEVER - as many proud Rovers fans have pointed out, that is pretty much what ANY open top bus looks like… on the way to the start of a parade. A fair point, well made. As many of you have pointed out, loads of supporters lined the streets a bit later on and to their credit, they look very happy. And why not? Rovers have returned to the Football League at the first time of asking. We stand corrected.
Metro has also done a u-turn http://metro.co.uk/2015/05/26/brist...omotion-it-didnt-really-go-that-well-5215567/ It says... But despite the club’s success, things appeared to have got off to a pretty awkward start as the players set off around Bristol. En route to the first stop there were hardly any supporters present, making things pretty edgy for the social media person who was live tweeting the whole thing. But the fans did come out in force by the end, pouring scorn on claims (including ours, originally) that the parade had been a washout… But as some fans rightly pointed out, parades generally are pretty empty before they’ve started… The moral here is, never judge a victory parade before it starts. It even had a note from the Editor included!! EDITOR’S NOTE: A previous version of this article was published under the headline ‘Bristol Rovers host open-top bus parade to celebrate promotion, it didn’t really go that well’. We opted to amend this after quite a number of Gasheads got in touch. Thank you to all who did, your feedback is appreciated.
Bus cam..... Wow, there were more at Kingswood than I thought! With that lot and the lot at the Mem, along with smaller groups in planned destinations, it was a superb turn out.
