i was pissing myself laughing at the time! in fact, all our fans were and i suspect many others too. big egos + big wages + mediocre talent = financial and footballing disaster. i'm no good at maths but any moron can do that maths!
Their performance vs Liverpool was similar to ours, poor marking and Suarez running riot They had a great run last year to stay up, the difference this year is their home form has been worse, that really saved their bacon last year. Plenty of points left to play - we could easily be dragged back down into the scrap as our January fixtures look tricky - whu, Newcastle, Liverpool and Spurs Must mean some "easier" fixtures later in feb:march/April
i just don't see how they can sort out the problems they have. How do you make an underperforming player leave who is getting a big salary from you, and for whom there is probably very little interest out there? Forget bringing new players in, there won't be any squad space. Everyone could see this had the potential to happen, but anyone who pointed it out was dismissed as being jealous of QPR's spending power and top half ambitions. They looked at the name of the player and thought that was the seal of quality. They should have looked at the fact that they were mostly free transfers, demanding big wages. Alarm bells right there. If they were worth the money their 'big' clubs would keep them. Players that still have it are rarely allowed to leave for nothing. Yet Norwich fans supposedly have a reputation with some QPR fans for being 'smug.' Pot calling the kettle a little i feel, and our delusions of grandeur are much more in line with the reality of the situation. I'm surprised that many QPR fans are still not grasping what will happen if they go down, saying that HR can rebuild in the championship. Will he really hang around? and can they afford to keep him? He's cost an estimated 3 million a year. That puts him in the highest 10 paid managers in the world! And then they'll be paying hughes salary (3m!) as well. The mittals are trying to run a business. If they go down, they wont throw good money after bad forever.
the mittals came across quite well in that documentary they made a year or so ago - they were about the only ones featured who seemed to have their heads screwed on! but they only play a bit-part role at loftus road. fernandes is a guy who seems to love the limelight; being centre of attention is, as far as i'm concerned, what he is running qpr for. he is not 'loaded' - at least not to the extent required to match his own ludicrous ambitions, so if they do go down, and i can't see them staying up now, they will be in serious, serious financial trouble. and their fans can dismiss it all they like - that's how it will be. we all saw this coming a mile off. learn to walk before you attempt to run in the olympic 100m final
Did anyone see in the Mirror (yeah, hardly the most reliable source, I know) that apparently QPR haven't yet settled pay-offs for Hughes and his coaching team? So at the moment QPR are paying 6 people, with only 3 working. Madness. When it comes to getting rid of players, surely Bosingwa refusing to be on the bench is a breach of contract, maybe a sackable offence? Otherwise I can't see how they'll shift him to be honest, even if they give him away, his wages will be too much for many. As said above, they need to get a core of players like Mackie, Hill, Nelsen, etc, who are up for the fight, and bring in players of a similar mindset, so they have the majority of their starting XI filled with players ready to fight, of reasonable quality, and prepared for a promotion push if the worst happens for them. If Bosingwa (and the like) think they're too good for sitting on the bench, I would assume they'd think they're too good for the championship, and would have clauses in their contract which would allow them to leave if they do get relegated. Honestly, I think relegation would be the best thing for them, so they can clear out the expensive deadwood, and start to build again.
i remember having an argument on here (me arguing, never...) during the summer with an r's fan who claimed that bosingwa was world class because he won the champions league last season, stating that we would give anything to be signing a player of his calibre. apparently, we'd signed a 'duffer' from scotland as our right back. i said bosingwa was the worst full back in the premier league, and i mean the worst (even worse than alan hutton ). he can't tackle, can't pass, can't attack, can't defend, can't control, can't cross, can't head, and now he can't be arsed. i would love to know their opinion on him now... and to think - he's on £65k a week... also, not sure if true or not, but it has been mentioned by r's fans before that none of their players have relegation release clauses. relegation would spell nothing but disaster. it would not be a good thing unless they were able to swiftly sell all those players. can't see them being able to do that.
Nobody has relegation release clauses??? In which case, they definitely need to stay up! If they can't motivate half the squad in the PL, I dread to think what'd happen in the championship. Looks like it's going to be a long job to sort this mess out then. Depressingly for them, Bosingwa is in the first year of a three year contract, so that problem isn't going to be resolved any time soon.
A sad and honest post, Hoopy, and I felt a bit guilty as I read it for feeling so negative about QPR. It reminded me there are real fans out there who have just had to watch this farce unfold. As for Boswinga, whatever went wrong? When he first came to Chelsea, he looked stunning for about half a season.
QPR are as good as down, but for obvious reasons Harry isn't going to come on TV and say it. The only thing that managers need to worry about when talking to the media is the effect of what they say has on their players not the truth. As with all things in the media honest and integrity run a poor second to everything else.
Absolutely supers - no PL experience, so Snoddy wouldn't even be considered. I hope we get cove for Holt this month, as at the moment, we only have Kane and Jackson as fit forwards. Looking forward to the team selection today and hopefully at least a point!!!
Maybe you lot should stop being so smug over us and concentrate on your own problems 4th straight defeat looming On the slide for sure
Yeah we suck today, but against chelsea and man city looked solid. And yes, were on a slide at the mo, but at least we have had good form to slide from. And our problems? End of today, worst case scenario we are in 12th, with 25 pts. 13 or so from probable safety, 8 points from the drop. You will be 20th with 10pts. 8 from safety, 15 behind us. What problems are you talking about exactly?
25 not enough to stay up.vanilka been rubbish and yet catching you up My point? A long way to go yet and no ones relegated as far as I can tell. You should wait until its all over before lording it over others
