Long, hard, but in the end, unbelievable season.

But, from today's game I would like to single out one player.

Recieved a lot of hatred/abuse/whatever you want to call it (from a minority), but today I thought Guly was very impressive. He looked like he was up for the game, attacked well, defended well, and in his attacking midfield-ish position through most of the game, he controlled the play and tempo.

I myself doubted him on several occasions and even doubted whether he should start today. In my opinion, today he has made many people eat their words - he was great. It was also good to see him in such high spirits after with the team in the dressing room celebrations.

Long may it continue.

(Would also like to mention that it wasn't just Guly - the whole team deserve plaudits and have been brilliant for the most of this incredible season.)
 
Agreed, I'm no Guly lover but will be the first to say he was brilliant today. It seems he had a real desire to win the game and it showed. I think that's the main reason he takes stick (or the reason I give it for) and it goes to show how good he is with some determination!
 
watched him intently and felt if people criticised his performance today (yesterday now) they really don't have a clue, he was very assured, calmly moving the ball and keeping us moving whilst coventry were trying to close quickly. He was excellent and my non saints mates thought his performance stood out. especially enjoyed him and puncheon just tapping the ball to one another towards the end for fun!
 
I too, kept an eye him, wanting him to have a good game. I need not have worried. He was practically everywhere. The only thing he lacked was a goal for himself, but then again, even Rickie didn't get one.

And an honourable mention for Rickie himself. He may not have got a goal, but he played a lot deeper and was a target forward, cum attacking midfielder, with some delightful passing, hold-up play and lay-offs. He'll grace the PL and I can't wait to see it. Pundits continue to compare him to Grant Holt because they've heard another say the same, but he's much more the complete player.
 
we are in need of a gol scoring midfielder to play with spider, guly would fit the bill. Thats if he does not leave because of the very small minority of haters
 
I loved the way he did a couple of crucial well timed tackles without fear. It is only a small vociferous minority who have a go at Guly. It was noticeable that the crowd was calling his name at the first opportunity to show support. Felt sorry for Lambert...he really wanted a goal...saw him yelling at a player that he felt had not given him the ball he wanted when we were 4 nil up. Don't worry Rickie...you'll score in the PL next year.
 
Lambert played some lovely little through balls yesterday, held the ball up well and played it simple and got another assist. As we all know he is so much more then a goalscorer. Maybe next year the media will realise what a talented player he is and not just a big lump

Edit: Anyone know how many assists he has this season? Must be a fair amount now!!

Lambo finished with 12 assists, Fox 11, Lallana 10 and Richardson 8.

Back on topic though, Guly really was superb yesterday.

I think he was majorly lacking in confidence a few weeks ago due to all the negativity surrounding him and his performances, but Adkins seems to of restored it - It was a lovely (on the FLS) when Clem was talking to Adkins and Guly just came up and hugged him as well.
 
Nice interview with MLT on Sky...talked sense. Praised NA and the team, but recognises that we need more experience in the team. Said as a fan he would snatch your arm off for finishing 17th next year, but was sure Nigel was thinking higher than that.
 
Guly was absolutely superb yesterday, he's been on a bad run of form but yesterday showed why Nigel values him so much - long may it continue!
 
Guly has done a job for us, and has played out of position for a majority of the games in the second half of the season. Although he has struggled in some games,i have always thought he could be one of the players that could make the step up to the Premier League.
Great to hear his name chanted around the stadium yesterday, and hopefully he will stay and be a part of our Premier League team next season.
 
On topic of stupid/idiotic/moronic/annoying/pathetic fans - who boo Guly - does anyone else who sits in the northam each week get sick and tired of the teewats towards the left of block 42 who insist on walking up the steps waving their season tickets and at the beginning of the game sing 'where were you when we were s hit' or 'we are block 42' when block 43 and maybe even more are open?

If many fans didn't turn up yesterday just because they don't have a season ticket and aren't, in the idiots eyes, as 'loyal' a fan as they are, then they would have moaned and said why haven't we sold out?

It's like they think they own the place and walk around as if everyone should copy their awful and moronic chants. I have a season ticket and sit there each week and love it, but I encourage people who don't have a season ticket to come to the game. Better atmosphere, more revenue for the club, it's a win win. If you are one of those pricks then please take a look at yourself and realise how much of an idiot you look.
