Personally, I aint gonna write anybody off. The spirit amongst the squad appears as good as the MO'N days. That allows those with determination the opportunity to stake a claim. I honestly believed we would finish mid table this season, and have been proved wrong. Hats off to NP and the backroom staff. Player of the season for me is Matty James - worked his bollocks off, and allowed DD, Knocky, and Lloyd the freedom to attack.
I'd echo this although my player of the season has to be Vardy ... he's very likely to pass the 20 goal mark from open play ... remarkable turn around and he's arguably quintupled his value ...
Can't disagree with the OP, after last season we were all too aware of how quickly things can change so no-one was getting too excited when we hit the top, which was Boxing Day after we beat Reading. We are now in an exceptionally strong position and we are currently maintaining our form, whist some of the others in the top six haven't been consistent & we're increasing our lead over 3rd. Its understandable that many neutrals & observers are looking at the table & our form & saying its all over. I certainly would be if it was anyone else. However, its us. It would take an absolute disaster from us & something exceptional from one of the others to prevent promotion. As its not mathematically impossible I'm still erring on the side of caution, I can't help it. The next few games can't come quickly enough. The sooner we see the P the better, then I'll relax. All of the players are performing well and it's fantastic that people are suggesting so many different players, with justification, as their player of the season. Team spirit appears immense. After the disappointment of last season all credit to NP, his team & the players for their approach this year.
You have some good points ... but Richard Dunne is now plying his trade in the Championship for that very reason - he no longer has the legs for the Prem ... but Lloyd deserves a shot and is, at the top of his game, a real handful for even the best defenders ...
Its not so much down to our form any more in order to get promotion, its all on QPR and Derby to get the point on the board, they need 2 point per game just to overtake us, and thats with us losing all our games. We are up imo, but not as champions just yet. If we were slipping at all, then i would say that there was a possibility of failure, but we have scored 3 goals in 4 consecutive games, confidence is defiantly high from the way Pearson was greeting them after the match on tunnelcam, doesn't look like a side that are going to let this lead slip.
I do wonder how we will react to a defeat. We are definitely "due", and it could happen this weekend against Blackburn. If it happens sooner rather than later... Will the doubt start to creep in? We may well just end up stumbling over the line. Or it won't affect our confidence at all, and we may get straight back to winning ways...
I'd like to think that the players are on such a high that one loss isn't going to effect that. We have one of our toughest games left this season on Saturday followed by what should be one of the easiest. QPR and Derby haveto pick up 17 points (arguably 18 because of goal difference) from the last 10 games without us picking up any more, they are averaging 1.75 a game which means that they could make it if we go on an 11 game losing run ... which isn't going to happen
NP has spoken of expecting a defeat and is continually saying they are not complacent about our current run. It's unrealistic not to expect it. I can't see a defeat shaking their confidence at this point. Early Feb, maybe but not now. As Yeovil drew away to Wigan we won't be taking them lightly. No easy games in the FL & Wizard has probably just set us up for defeat now On current form Derby & QPR are averaging 1.33 & 1.17 respectively, it is going to take a seismic change of form from them & us for them to catch up. We know an 11 game winless run is possible but it's not going to happen this year. As a city fan I never, ever make brave confident statements....but there it is!
Blackpool at half time was the first time in a long time that i thought it wasn't over. I don't think any fan at the moment is negative enough to will Leicester to an 11 game losing streak
