According to Ruud Gullit, Daniel Levy has met with Louis van Gaal and signed the Dutchman up to manage us from next season. Over at the BBC website, it states: "Ruud Gullit says Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has met with Louis van Gaal and claims it is a "done deal" that the Dutchman will take over as Spurs boss. Van Gaal, 62, will be replaced by Guus Hiddink as coach of the Netherlands after this summer's World Cup. Spurs named Tim Sherwood, 45, as head coach on an 18-month deal in December. Former Chelsea manager Gullit said: "I know for sure the chairman of Tottenham was at Van Gaal's house. I think it's a done deal, but you never know." Well in Spurs if true. #savedave
If we wanted him we would get him, there is no way he would choose Spurs over us. We obviously aren't interested in his services
Why? The state of Man Utd at the moment is enough to turn any manager off. Whoever does take the job has one hell of a challenge in front of him. A challenge that many wouldn't want as it could be a big dent in their managerial reputation. Bit like Moyes - He'll now end up managing teams like Villa, Norwich etc.
Tbf you could say much worse for anyone who's managed Spurs over the last couple of decades. Juande Ramos, Hoddle, Jol, Rednapp, AVB. No disrespect but you can't compare the prospect of managing a club like Spurs to Man United. TBH I'm glad we aren't getting Van Gaal. He may be good for Spurs and I can understand why, but in terms of United, I really can't see how an unproven premier league manager at the age of 62 is going to build anything meaningful for the long term.
In some ways it's easier to take over a struggling side, as it means expectations are a lot lower. If Moyes is sacked then I think they'd have a far easier job taking over from him, than they would have done taking over from Fergie
