How about this King George line up .... I don't remember the race specifically, but do recall quite a few of the field.

Bit of a shock winner Reebs. I saw him get beaten out of sight a month earlier at Epsom, by Slip Anchor. We backed Slip Anchor and were laughing all the way up the straight

Surprise winner or not, that was a field full of class animals :)

I just watched Slip Anchor's Derby win again, I'd forgotten just how destructive Cauthen's ride was - got to have the right horse of course, but what a win :)

I noticed on wiki Petoski on his day was very good but ran a few stinkers as well. He ran in the Dancing Brave win the next year as well.
The 86 King George is one of my early racing memories, i was at my Grans and we used to have a bacon butty, cup of tea and biscuits and settle down for ch4 racing was a cracking summers day, we always had a £1 double and i told her and my dad Dancing Brave definitely beats Shahrastani.
The only races i remember before that was the Teenoso derby and Sharastani derby watching them at my Grans caravan.

OMG you have never heard of Steve Cauthen? Up there with the Shoe as possibly the best American jockey we have ever seen.

Unfortunately i've never heard of him. Also don't know what this Shoe reference is you've just made. In my defence i've only been watching horse racing for around 10 years and i don't actually think i could name one single current American jockey to be honest

I noticed Philip Robinson's name among the jockeys too. Gave me one of my happiest racing memories in 1993. I wanted to buy a new coat from Next but only had 40 quid and the coat cost 120. So I stuck 30 of my 40 quid on Bob's Return in the Leger and he romped home. I even found the replay on YouTube. BTW check out the sponsor of the race - Coalite <yikes>
