Thought I’d share this with you..
After a good Cheltenham I had quite a horrific Aintree, and was laying off the betting for a while, but at the weekend, I did a small £1 lucky 15 that had 2 winners – no great prices (3/1 & 5/2) but £21.50 to collect, so I decided to re-invest in a football bet last night. Picked out 2 lines @ £10 each, placed the bet and had £1.50 left. Was about to leave the shop when I noticed a dog race about to go off – 1 & 3 were 5/2 JF’s so I did the £1.50 on a straight forecast, 1 to beat 3 which duly obliged returning £18.50. Thought I’d keep £15 for today’s racing and re-invest the £3. Next race up was a South African sprint – not heard of any of the horses and there wasn’t any form to read, but one horse had been backed into 7/1 from 12s so on went the £3 – and it only went and won – so my initial £1.50 was now £39.00. Decided to keep £35 an do the £4 on the next dog race – studied the form a bit and liked the look of the 3 dog, but it was only evens so I doubled it with the 5 in the race after (unbeknown to me, the 5 was a reserve so the form I had studied was worth diddly squat) – the 3 dog duly obliged, and I was cursing the reserves chances when it opened up @ 9/2 then drifted alarmingly out to 8/1 –a bit of bumping at the first left my 5 dog 6 lenghths clear and it held on to win by the shortest of short heads. Another £72 taking my balance to £107.
£100 was in the sky rocket and was about to leave the shop when a virtual race was about to run – I have never ever placed a bet on anything like this before, but as I was holding their money and was already well up I thought I’d give it a go – One of the horses was called Rampant Rams which for some reason stood out so on went the £7. This Rampant Rams was not mentioned until the very end of the race where it soared past the leader to win at the line at odds of 9/1 – Now I had £170 from my initial £1.50.
Another dog race was about to go off, didn’t have time to look at the form, but noticed that out of 8 races the 3 dog had won 4, so had £7 @ 4/1 on T3 and £3 S/F T3 to beat T6.
3 hosed up, and it was a very close photo for 2nd which I initially thought the 1 dog had got, but to my surprise the 6 came 2nd @ 11/2. So on top of the £160, I now had another £35 and 3 x whatever the forecast paid. Went to collect my winnings still not sure of the forecast return, and the cashier handed me £142 – happy days – now I had £302.
Another virtual race was about to begin, so I did the £2 on a 20/1 shot, pretty sure I’d be walking out with £300 – but **** me that won as well – now I had £342.
A £2 losing bet and down to £340 and the afternoon racing was about to begin.
£20 lost on Shooters Wood in the 1st leaving me with £320 - £300 for the pocket £20 to play with.
2.00 race and liked the look of the Paul Nicholls horse - was going to do the £20 on it, but changed my mind at the last minute and did £10 and a £5R/F with the favourite. Cowards Close won at 6/1 (another £70 won) and the fav was 2nd - foerecast paid £20.90 (another £104.50)
Now I had £474.50 - lost £4.50 on the next race, and left the shop with £470 - the 2 football bets both lost, but turning £1.50 into £470 is something I very much doubt I could pull off again.
Will not have another bet now until the weekend
