in all honesty, i don't want to spend that much on 1 player, would prefer to buy 2 players for that price, which is more than do-able, there's a lot of top players we can get in the region of 15 million and 10-12 million. We could've gotten Mata for example, for 17 million, but weren't willing to spend that much.
So all in all, Ivan deserves a round of applause for once, we're making a huge sum of money, if we actually spent it, i'd personally find the guy and give him a big hug.
I think Wenger has always been cautious about spending big. Over the years, partly because we haven't had the financial clout of City, Utd and Chelsea and partly because of Wenger's ability to turn unknown players into world class players, we've not seen Arsenal splash big money. If the club have now managed to get us into a position where we can afford to spend some serious money on a top player, then they should be applauded for it. But the question still remains as to whether Wenger will actually do it.
Well it seems Real are willing to let Karim Benzema go and are looking to make a move for Falcao. Wenger is a big fan. A few Wenger quotes from the last few years... "He's a player that I like." "I think he's intelligent in his movement, I think he is capable of combining well and making a difference, and of doing individual moves as well. So, for me he's a player who's at the top level in the world." also shortly after signing for Madrid.. "I am suprised, had I known Lyon would be willing to sell I may have put a bid in myself" Would be a great signing IMO.
I used to think If Wenger did spend big it would be on Benzema.(because he's such a typically 'Wenger-esque' style player) Who knows, he's lost his place to Higuiane and Real seem interested in Falca and Neymar. £2o Million might do it, he would be perfect for us.
The Olympics won't tell you much about a player though as those teams usually have never played like that before and most likely never will. Cavani has been impressive for a few years now at Napoli and if we could get him for the right price, I'd go for him. Cavani could also be bought in the January window as he won't be cup tied in the CL. Benzema would probably suit us more. Falcao is unlikely, Chelsea and Real are more likely suitors. His agent is the same as Mourinho's and he has transferred quite a lot of players to Chelsea or Real in the last 10 years. If Christian Eriksen doesn't sign a new deal at Ajax, we'd be stupid not to go for him. He has got less than 2 years left and therefore they'll have to sell him if they want good money. I fear that City have him on their radar now after his perfomance last Wednesday. Gotze will be extremely hard to get though, but Wenger seems to be an admirer of him and he'd be a player I'd break the bank for. I don't see space for him at Chelsea, Real, Barca or Man Utd. Bayern? I think Dortmund would refuse to sell him to their competitors. He'd easily cost >£35m.
QPR fan here in peace... How about you give us 25mill and we'll give you Taraabt....? In fact i'd take 25 quid but thats just me (minority!) No chance of getting Graneor off us though...Him and Arteta would have been awesome.... Looking forward to a good game and the midfield battle is going to be really good. I'd put our midfield up against anyones at the moment, but then again i am slightly biased!! Havent been to Emirates since CL game against Valencia a few years ago, when Song was on fire!!. Defo my favourite stadium in the Prem (After loftus Road or course) Good luck boys, looking forward to a good game. Please ask Mr Walcott to be gentle with our defense..Thanks Q.
