In the end this so called "hot head reputation " will show dividends Like every gunfighter worth his pistoleros others will come and try and take him down and fail His reputation will be a postive Thats why both Bruce and ONeil realise his worth because he will mature He`ll always have an edge because of the rich mix of midfielders at the club...and if he wasnt what he is trillions would be bemoaning the fact we didnt have a "Bally" in mid field......Sometimes folk cant see the wood for the trees!!
Certainly is captain material. You can call him all the names under the sun, hot head, stupid, dirty or otherwise. The cap fits. But Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira were dirty players and hot heads too. Still made great captains. I'm not for one moment suggesting that Cattermole is anywhere near those guys football ability wise, just that him being dirty is not neccessarily a blockage to making a good captain. The problem with Cattermole is that his hot head often takes his mind away from the football, whereas Keane and Vieira could explode into nastiness for 2 mins, then regain composure and control in midfield. Obviously his red card count is like it is for a reason, and at this rate he'll go down as the dirtiest player in PL history. However he may mature and get that side under control, and if he does, improves his football, he'll make a good captain. More old fashioned fans will undoubtedly feel he is not the right choice.
