You had me scratching my head there, until I saw the date.
On this day 40 years ago, 3rd in the Second Division table, Swansea entertained second placed Blackburn.
Robbie wheels away in delight as Speedie scores for the Swans.
The Swans ran out 2-0 winners to leapfrog Rovers and move second - the dream of First Division football was truly on!
Happy 79th birthday
Member of the 1966 World Cup winning squad. He played one match in the tournament - the 2-0 group stage win against France.
Wow, I've never forgotten about this result. I remember watching the goals on the Welsh news in some evening following, full of pride and pleasure..
Messed it up, was alluding to the Hartlepool result..
I remember missing this Wales game because I was at The Vetch watching the Swans - I couldn’t remember who the boys played or what was the result, so I googled it:
Swansea Town 2 Grimsby 0
League Division Three
The game was played in front of 4,821 spectators
Was at the Arms Park that day!
Happy Birthday a true Swans Legend
On this day 43 years ago, we lost the great Harry Griffiths - Harry was 47 years old.
I’d met Harry a year or two before on a Sunday morning in the BP Sports Club after he’d played in a Charity match.
Lovely guy, bought us a pint and arranged a couple of complimentary tickets for the following Saturday’s match.
The Swans won 3-1 at an emotional Vetch Field after Harry had died that same morning.
The victory left the Swans in 4th spot meaning that a win over Halifax in the final match of the season would guarantee promotion to the Third Division.
On this day 40 years ago, the Swans went to Preston as a Second Division team and came home as a First Division team
I was there that day...awesome
Seeing that proud picture of 3 Welsh internationals playing for the Swans back in the day. Yesterday, we finished the match with 5 full/U21 Welsh internationals..
Could Page do worse than take a shot at Liam Cullen on the plane to the Euro's. One minute I think, no way & then I think why not?? How many in the squad, 23??

I was taken ill in September 2018 - they weren’t sure if I was having a stroke - and James was one of the two paramedics who took me to Morriston.
Thankfully, it was (only) a severe attack of vertigo - never had it before or since. I was rough for 3 days.
I understand they are renaming 3rd May
