Eight years have flown by but I still remember the emotional turmoil of that day like it was yesterday! It is now slightly overshadowed by OBZ day, but it was still a very good one.

In an attempt to have at least one football related thread on the board, what are your memories of that day? Was anyone there? Personally, I was at home, in Paris, watching and following...and I must confess I did rather enjoy the confusion at the Stadium of Light, and the realisation that we were watching a changing of the guard in terms of Premier League domination. At the time I thought we'd be seeing City win every year for a while, so I am quite pleased that United and Leicester have won it since, less pleased another team has also won it twice.

So, anyone got any fond memories of that day?

Yes, Traore/Mackie's brilliant goal to give us the lead, Cisse's equaliser, and that we stayed up. Nothing else mattered really.

Missed the game as I had my last uni exam the following Monday and thought I needed a decent mark in it to get a 2.1. Might as well have gone in hindsight.

Missed watching the game, eldest daughter was competing in the Ten Tors expedition on Dartmoor and all the family went up to Okehampton Army camp to see her team finish. No signal on phone, I only heard City had won whilst driving home and hearing interviews on 5 Live, not until an hour or so later that I found out that we'd stayed up!

Couldn’t make the match & watched it at home with wife & daughters, amazing match & was shouting & going crazy when we went 2-1 up, then mr Barton had moment of madness & agree Tevez should’ve gone as well, was laughing at the city fans faces & some crying as we moved into injury time, then it was 2-2 & Joy as we heard Bolton was down, relief I can tell you! But that brilliant little argie player won it for them & over to Utd match & they couldn’t believe city had won, I like Alex but had to laugh at his face as it dropped to the floor, oh & Mark Hughes saying we will never be in this position again, what a prat & what happened Mark? your out & we went down!

I couldn’t go to game so watched at home with some mates. When Mackie scored we all jumped up and screamed. Sadly the fright must have killed our budgie as the thing dropped dead. Mrs wasn’t happy but we stayed up.

Had a friend (neutral) over and the expectation was we were relying on Bolton to do badly in order for us to survive with no expectation that we'd turn up at City at all.

Could not believe it when we scored and I stood and roared at 2:1 to us.

To this day, I'm sad we could not have held on for the draw or even won. We would have gone down in history as the minnows that thwarted the £500m team! Alas, now we are remembered for Barton's antics instead. Oh well!

Still a good memory in most ways.

EDIT - read the article after I posted and actually pushed my heart rate up a bit!! Those heady days.

What a day! Had been away for the weekend and spent the morning at Ely Cathedral and then found a great pub just opposite. One bar was packed out with ManUre fans watching their game at Sunderland we were in the other watching our game. When Cisse scored I went into one and got a few glares from some of the few Citeh fans in the bar, some of the United fans came in for a look and were having a laugh as well. Then Barton got sent off and I thought we were f*cked. You could imagine the shock when Mackie scored, my missus was even more shocked than anyone when I leaped up and start banging on the table shouting 'yes! yes!' and then the United fans wandered in cheering, it was f*cking surreal. The funniest thing is that most of the Citeh fans had left the pub before Dzeko equalised, I think the Bolton result came through when we were still at 2-2 and then Aguero (who always scored against us) made history while the United fans were celebrating in the other bar, just totally surreal but unforgettable...

I was actually at the game.

I remember walking around Manchester that morning. All the United fans were stopping us and wishing us luck. We had a huge support there and we were extremely loud. The City fans seemed to be a bit annoyed that so many of us had come to try and ruin their day, which we very nearly did. Their faces when Mackie scored . I remember thinking there will be trouble outside when it ends as so many of their fans left before the end. When they scored the second goal, you could see them all trying to get back in but the stewards wouldn't allow them back in.

In the end, they won the league and we stayed up which suited me as two sets of happy fans outside meant no trouble afterwards. I was pleased for my old man. It was the first time he had seen his team win the league.

I spoke to Niall Quinn briefly in Manchester airport as we boarded our flight. He was working for Sky that day and he said he had never seen anything like it in his life.

I went straight to my old man's house and both of us were grinning from ear to ear with joy.

I think United fans still hold that against us as they feel we should have hung on for the draw at least. I know some United fans and anytime we are mentioned, they give us a collective booing. As for Joey Barton, if we had been relegated that day, he would have been hounded out of the club straight away.

To be fair, he wasn't wrong...the following year we went into the final game having been relegated long before, and finished 12 points from safety.

Aguero - just a brilliant player. For this player to win the league for Citeh - it couldn't have happened to a better player playing against us. Gutted we lost, glad we stayed up. Disappointed by Joey Barton - marmite player at the best of times but his behaviour was and still is in defensible.
