A personal positive for me that is in spite of being a naturally pessimistic person, this board really forces me to consider the positives.
A big positive has been our away record. Previous seasons looked like this - Season W/D/L pts 2006/07 1-7-1 10 2007/08 2-7-10 13 2008/09 3-8-8 17 2009/10 1-7-11 10 2010/11 3-9-7 18 2011/12 3-5-11 14 So far this season we are W3 D7 L8 pts 16. A win on Sunday would mean our highest total of points gained in the last seven years.
It's better but it is still poor compared to teams like Swansea, West Brom, Villa and even Wigan who all manage to win more than we do. Mind you, if we do win on Sunday we will have won the same number of games away as Everton (presuming they don't beat Chelsea), which is a little bizarre bearing in mind they are 6th. What's worrying is the decline of our home form this year, just 7 wins. Both Reading & Wigan picked up more points at home than we did. There are only 6 teams who have won less games at home than us this season and three of those are the relegated teams. If you don't win your home matches you are historically always in trouble. I think that's what we really need to concentrate on next season.
A win on Sunday and other results going our way we could move back up 5 places to 10th - and gain an extra £4M place payment.
