I seriously think there needs to be more ethics in business. Rather than it being profits first and ethics a distant last (for most companies, some exceptions like John Lewis), ethics should be at the forefront. It's appalling that companies can make huge profits but pay most of their staff barely anything or charge ridiculous prices (i.e. energy and petrol companies). Also, similarly the people who buy signal cables even though they know it's costing the country shedloads of money and causes hundreds of commuters to be late for work but because capitalism encourages profit-centric business models, these people have little ethical regards in their business practices it would seem.

OK St Godders, it's cool. I think most of the Pompey regulars understand that we all make mistakes now and again, myself included, when the old red(!) mist descends. So I hope I speak for all of us if I say you are forgiven and would rather see your prose, than your (or anyone else's, for that matter) rant.

    Anyone disagree?

I tried replying to this question yesterday but the connection went down before I could post my reply. The people here are very friendly and will often go out of their way to help you even when they have little or nothing for themselves. On the opposite side to this are the wealthy Chinese, many having acquired vast sums of money in a short space of time and lots of these newly rich think they are above the law. particularly the spoilt brats of the rich.

Anelka getting 6 million for turning out for Shanghai is an indicator of how much some of these people have to throw away. There is no way that club are living within their income from gate receipts. The standard of football here is poor, he will probably get sent off for retaliating after a bad tackle that goes unpunished such id the standard of refereeing.

There is officially a minimum wage in this country but it is not rigidly enforced so if a boss can pay a worker less than minimum and get away with it he/she will. I can easily live on one hundred pounds a month here, but many Chinese workers receive below the minimum of around 80 pounds per month. They will work seven days a week, ten or twelve hours a day for that. It is modern day slavery yet many of them appear to be happy because it has always been like this. They seem content to endure these hardships.

Xmas is not too good over here, officially it doesn't happen, it is just a normal working day. I have had to take classes on the 25th before now. Luckily this past two years have been weekends so I have had the day off.
