I think he's trying to say that the glory supporters of Hull will start crying if you get relegated.

I wouldn't have thought you had many to be honest, you took just over your normal home attendance to Wembley.

AFC Bournemouth should be top. That name change worked.

    Oh right.

    1) We don't have that many
    2) Can you really be a glory supporter of Hull City anyway?
    3) Those that do are at least probably from Hull

If a glory supporter wants to get their fix supporting us they're going to be disappointed.

    1) Im guessing the average attendance will go up by several thousand next season, even with Allam Corp in charge,. If it doesnt then I'll agree with you.
    2) Yeah. anyone who goes to watch us in the Premier League but doesnt in another division for purely football reasons is a glory supporter.
    3) Still makes them ****s.

But getting back to the point, and I know I'm in the minority here, but I just dont get that "yeah David beat Goliath" thing. Why do people cheer for the little guy? My favourite sportsperson of all time is the biggest (not physically) sportsperson of all time - Muhammad Ali - and I didnt want to see him get beat by Chuck Wepner nor did I get excited when Denmark won the Euros.

I just find it a really odd trait.

Some people have to prioritise their money.

People are likely to spend money on a better product hence Premier League attendances dwarf those in the Championship.

Is it a better product? The opposition is better, I dont think we'll be much better than we are now.

When I'm not boycotting I go to watch us, I've never once given two ****s about who is on the opposition side.

I'm not sure the boxing analogy crosses over here.

Because football has turned into a sport where money rules all. It's been shaped and weighted by those in charge so that those at the top stay there and they hate it when their world order is disrupted. Anything that is 2 fingers up towards the establishment is a good thing.

Other than that in other sports its the suprise factor that makes seemingly dull forgone conclusions get turned over e.g. Japan beating South Africa was ace.

Ah right, is this football specific then? I just thought it was cheering for David vs Goliath :emoticon-0148-yes:

Edit - I didnt want Denmark or Greece to win the Euros either.

I don't think the idea of supporting the underdog is football specific but how it plays it out is different in football to other sports.

I don't think boxing works because most people prefer a boxer in a match up, and may have loads of boxers they like. No one 'supports' just one boxer, or very few do. Some like all British boxers whoever they're fighting, others prefer 'personalities' rather than looking at the actual skill of someone etc. I just don't think it compares to region based team sports.

If you don't get why people like the idea of an underdog succeeding then you're weird. I don't know of anyone who doesn't 'root for the underdog'. It's not us. It's you.
