We could always replace Levy with Freund. I would suggest the key element which has played the biggest role in the team's downturn is a lack of patience and pulling together. As long as we respond to adversity by calling for someone's head, it gives everyone the yips. People can't function properly when they're frightened. To be fair, fans are never patient, as a general rule. But it's too easy for a club to absolve itself of mistakes made higher up by scapegoating the manager. I'm not talking so much of AVB as of AVB and Harry together. We get knocked out of the CL, so Harry is fired. We have a couple of embarrassing losses, so AVB goes. There were other factors with both of course (Harry for England...) but together it looks like people playing the blame game rather than trying to do what's best for the club. For example, sacking AVB when it meant Sherwood in charge looks to be Levy's fault, not to mention not getting AVB his key player last year and selling him this. And for that, to some degree at any rate, he deserves to be sacked. But is sacking the solution or the problem?
you should have accepted this year as a transition after losing Bale and signing so many players and so stuck with AVB and at least win the europa league. now because of your arrogance and greed you have nothing.
How many people has Levy trusted since he came to the club? If you spend your life in an area you don't understand and need to constantly obtain advice from different sources then of course mistakes will be made. Until Levy moves on from chairman or actually brings in someone who can bring a clear vision to take this club forward then it will just be a reoccurring series of events. Baldini is now that source, who will probably be fired if he makes a mistake with the next manager. See the pattern, people hired, sacked for their mistakes and then a new group of people arrive but one man remains, the person who hires them all.
On the plus side....we don't have to go to the Etihad. Edit: sorry SD, just seen your post, that'll teach me not to catch up first.
Exactly. Been saying that for years and we will be saying that in years to come unless a change happens
Laniel Devi needs some work right? He cannot fill nothing in his accomplishments report year in year out. So he is doing the sacking accomplishments perhaps.
That is full, it reads "Signed Bale for £10m, sold him for 85.3 million" in nice big writing, with other entries including Berbatov and Modric, Lamela & Eriksen have been pencilled in for future accomplishments.
Top of the morning to you as well, Khedron. Thanks for reminding me of all I have to be grateful for, like not being the kind of person who enjoys kicking people when they're down.
I know you never intended to post this as humour and it probably says alot about my own humour but your last sentence gave me a laugh as it's actually true but its got to the point where you can't even wind us up, we're laughing at ourselves!
Did you honestly not expect that if they both won through.all this furore about fixing matches, they should look into draw fixing!
There are only three possible draws and two of them don't have the Mancs playing each other so they don't need to fix it
not trying to kick you when down. at least Boss got a laugh. I find the insane knee-jerk reactions of Levy annoying - if he had a replacement it wouldn't be so bad but it was pure ego from him without a care for Spurs' next few games - and it is fuelled by the impatient booing of Spurs fans. if you are losing at half time at St Mary's on sunday will Spurs fans boo their team off again?
For the goals conceded last, aerially shocking, most here will have heard me bang on about how few players are any good in the air. Set pieces and route one opponents will continue to do this while this area of the game is ignored. Baldini the latest expert to have missed this PL pre-requisite. Chiriches isn't much kop and looks hesitant since his bugle got bashed. Daws and Kaboul are the only reliable headers we have defensively, Pauli is ok generally but not clinical when an accurate header is needed in front of goal, as is obvious its a different proposition to a defensive one. Chadli at least tries and gets something on it, if he can work on his timing it could become his best asset, he's been just over a few times, its there just needs work.....LES!!! He's six foot blah ffs! make use of it, it could be a real weapon imo.
I feel more depressed about the situation now than I did Sunday night. Got to stop being optimistic before games, it would help my wellbeing.
I'd suggest if you invested £100m of your money and it wasn't working out for you, you'd make changes before that money dwindles away to nothing. Would that make you arrogant? Probably not. Misguided maybe, but 100 big ones is 100 big ones. What would you do? Honestly? Please don't use SAF as an example; Hundreds of managers have been and gone at dozens of clubs during his tenure. He is truly the exception that proves the rule. Or are you talking about the fans? We were fairly optimistic, but we are used to the rug being pulled from under us, so we never fully believe we are out of the woods. I imagine if your club invested that sort of money you'd be optimistic too. Football clubs sack managers who are not performing. It is a results game and if you fail you get the bullet; Usually walking away with a rather large sack of cash. All managers know and accept this. With the travesty of Champions League also rans being given a second bite of the cherry, relying on the Europa as a route to success was risky at best, so to be fair we probably would have won nothing anyway. Thanks for the kind wishes though.
To me the £100m 'investment' (really a recycling) was going about as well as I expected. More points than I thought we'd have but more dire football and dire results too. Nowhere near badly enough to change the plan.
I'd agree PS, if you make money and don't take it out of the business, but plough it back in, it's an investment. We did have a plan though. For once we had a plan.....
