I think both he and Bentaleb have to be registered with the main squad as they don't qualify for homegrown yet.
Cos everyone else is injured! Dawson did well today, but I was surprised at how comfortable Capoue was alongside him. Didn't look like a midfielder playing at the back.
Great result today. The players did well to bounce back from the mistake. It took a while, but our football improved massively as a result. The second half performance was much more like it and we actually created some good chances!! Some excellent performances, particularly from Lennon, dembele and holtby. I've my concerns over what holtby brings, but he was very good again today. I hope for him that he can continue to play like that, as he's been the real difference in the last couple if games.
Vertonghen tweeted this during the game: please log in to view this image Not where we need him, frankly.
What a great game 2nd half best we've played for flipping ages. Great togetherness from the players as well, which is great to see. We are on the up, and still in the fight
Who is the chubby guy on the bench ? Black hair (glasses I think ?). He seems to be undermining AVB whoever he is.
Luis Martins? He's one of the coaches that Villas-Boas brought in, so you'd hope not. please log in to view this image
The combination with him and Defoe seems to work so well. Defoe loves getting in behind the defenders and Holtby loves slding passes in just behind the defence. For me Walker was our man of the match, he got forward excellently but defended well too but once again he and Lennon caused numerous problems down the right, they're a great tag team. Actually I've just remembered Lennon did some great tracking back too, he's man of the match Chadli deserves a mention too, thought he did really well in the air and looked much better going forward.
Yes that's him. A couple of times recently AVB's been talking to a player or something, and this guy has just stepped in and left AVB looking like a spare prick.
Lennon has always tracked back well,i belive with him playing we will always cause teams problems on the right,as for haig saying he's not good enough, you are speaking B/S
it does look like the obvious selection now doesn't it, and that's not to knock chadli who was decent today.
Chadli was surprisingly dangerous in the air from set-pieces. Townsend looked very threatening to a tired, stretched defence, though. Useful to have options.
3 points off second after 15 games, and it looks like we've turned a corner in our playing style I just wish the goons weren't so far out in front.
