Morning, people. Not too sure what to make of this one. The Saints are playing ok, but have been slowing off the pace a bit of late. Spurs have had the week from hell, yet a win will have them only 6 pts from top the weekend before Xmas
Talk about **** or bust team selection! This is going one of two ways.... Anybody remember Ossie's Christmas tree formation?
A bold team selection and formation from Sherwood! This may be a high scoring game and will boil down to who concede the less! Well, I live in hope! If we lose 6-5, I don't care!
Tottenham XI: Lloris, Walker, Dawson, Chiriches, Rose, Lamela, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Eriksen, Soldado, Adebayor. 4-4-2 with Lamela on the right and Sig on the left I presume. Where is Lennon? He's not even on the subs bench.
Interesting line up that could leave us being overun in midfield but might also produce some very exciting football. Sherwood goes for broke.
I echo what others have said, he's certainly gone for it in the selection. Interesting to see Bentaleb and Fredericks on the bench, we must really be in the **** injury-wise. It's got to be make or bust for Sherwood, he's certainly going for the spectacular today and if it doesn't come off we could be on the end of another hiding. My one big concern is a lack of any wingers on the pitch, you really don't want to have your width coming from your fullbacks in a tough away game like this, especially when they've gone 433. Mixed emotions for me, I'm really worried we'll get spanked but I'm ever the hopeful and can see it working somehow, even if it's just through the sheer chaos it looks likely to create.
4-4-2 with no holding midfielder against an organised and disciplined side? Probably not a good idea. You'd hope that the inverted wingers would help to congest the midfield when we're defending, but it looks extremely risky to me. It'll be interesting to see how Soldado and Adebayor do as a pairing, though. Should see some service from the midfield, but the fullbacks will have to provide any width.
I knew we'd see eriksen and lamela today. I really hope their performances are immense today and they "express" themselves. (To quote that much overused word in football these days) Nice refreshing lineup, but 442 against Southampton could be risky.
Jamie Redknapp proving he is not only embittered but also lacking in football knowledge: being given a right going-over by Glenn Hoddle. Almost comical......
"Only 6 points of the top, we are doing really well then. Levy's project is going so well, what next?" The squad actually click and play equal/greater to the sum of their parts (which would raise even more questions) ??
