Sherwoods only saving grace with me is that he said this about Tom Carroll So he isn't a complete moron, but Carroll isn't here so we have no reason to keep Sherwood as manager!
It was actually Clive Allen who persuaded the rest of the coaching staff to keep faith and persevere with Tommy Carroll, and most certainly not Tim Sherwood. How typical that he is making out he always rated the player because that isn't how it was.
How many on either side thought Saints would be a heavy favorite in this game? A win really does look unlikely. But there's also no doubt that the team and Sherwood desperately need fan backing, not despite, but because they don't deserve it.
Yes yoiu would have been heavy favourites two or three weeks ago. I still think it will be a very tough game. Hoping we just sneak it.
If we play 2 upfront again I can see Southampton picking us off comfortably, to be honest. It's a tough game going there and I think we'd need to be at our very best to be confident of a win. We're very far from our best at the moment.
I'd rather we play the team that's looked best for us this year, but maybe with Ade, on the grounds that he may be able to score a goal in the PL from open play. Continuity has to start somewhere. Rose Walker Chiriches. Walker Dembele Capoue Chadli Holtby Lennon Ade Sub Townsend and maybe Eiriksen in if we're not looking so hot, which is likely.
An unpredictable game coming up and that should make it a little more difficult for the Southampton manager.
I'm assuming you've got that the wrong way round and you're not hoping that a LB will start at RB and vice versa? Anyway, we might as well put out 11 fans who attend the game tomorrow - just as much chance of success (i.e. none) but at least we'd see some passion. I've predicted a 4-1 defeat and I stand by that. Aren't I a barrel of laughs today!
Saints where unlucky agaisnt Arsenal & Chelsea and then dominated Villa, but Villa hit on the counter, and after the great performance agaisnt City at home they are still the same team which have surprised people, just as Avb knows himself, a few poor results and teams can drop quite quickly, but the different was that Saints where still playing well when I saw them. I'm expecting them to dominate and press high so will Sherwood show he has some tactical nous and set us up to exploit the space on the counter (like Villa did) or will he try and match Saints by taking the game to them? this is where we will see just how relevant Sherwoods "mouthing off" is, as he is trying to talk a good game!
If Saints get an early goal, I don't think it will be a tough game for Saints. If Saints score early, it could be a very long afternoon for Spurs. Every time we've scored first this season at home, we've won and until Chelsea, we were unbeaten after scoring first home and away. Actually except for Chelsea, we've won all games when we've scored first.
Think it will be close; neither side's attack is that great but I expect us to get a goal or two. 1-1 or 2-1 Saints, probably the latter with Rodriguez scoring.
saints are confident and good while we are rudderless and ****...2 nil them if we are lucky imho. Sherwood til the end of the season...this has the ring of Hoddles sacking ... pleat as caretaker until the end of the season...weekly humiliations and then a top international manager appointed after an international tournament...that went well!
I never learned, or rejected, the convention that left backs should be named last in the back four. Now I know. Still makes more sense to me to name left backs first i.e. on the left. I'm not much more hopeful than you are, though. Spurs are certainly overdue for an unexpectedly good performance, but I don't see it happening here.
I think Spurs will win against Southampton and if the mancs still feel they can win the league.then Spurs are still in the mix for a top 4 spot, thing is you've dropped all the points you have before Christmas instead of over the entire season, no margin for many more mistakes and bad results.
