We are a bit decent these days, aye. And I put it all down to our defence, one goal conceded in the last five, I think. You guys never really had a chance once we scored that second and decided to shut up shop.
To be fair to cini65, he's a half-decent wum, and cannot, therefore, be compared with PESKIE. For a start, cini65 has some concept of basic perspective.
Peskie was just a..... well I won't say, while I disagree with most of what Cini has said on this thread in regards to the match, he says it as an opinion and not a full of **** wum attempt. So "outsiders" like him are welcome on this board in my opinion.
I suppose I have to agree with you at least some of the time. Nice that it's noticed that I always try and it make it clear that what I say is my OPINION and nothing more.
I disagree with Cini's opinion of Vertonghen. I can see why you would think he is another Vermaelen, one good first season, then rubbish, but its not the case. In JV's defence (no pun intended! ) he's been played out of position at LB most of the season by our previous manager, when he is obviously keen to play in his rightful position in a World Cup year. His body language told us he was unhappy with that, but looking at it another way it is a bit unprofessional to sulk. That said, JV received all manner of plaudits last season, player of the month awards etc., that player doesn't disappear overnight. It'll be interesting to see what Sherwood does with him when he returns from injury, and I'll wait to see the outcome of that before writing him off.
Vertonghen is class, end of. I don't reckon we'll have him for much longer, unless we sort this mess out pronto.
Probably. And the knock on affect of selling our best players all the time, as by doing this, we can't make the CL. so then more players leave. and the process repeats. - Except this time, we now have to consider the outlay on Lamela, who doesn't play, so we could well be looking to recover money, rather than just making profit like normal.
If you put 'end of' does that make your opinion a fact? He's not class, end of. What do you think of that? He's good but not brilliant. And he's no better than Vermaelen. Both are high quality defenders, but not near the best in the world.
It's hard to judge Vermaelen as he was very good when he arrived and had a dip in form but he's struggled to get any games at centre back to build up any form since. He looked a weak link on Saturday though and I'd take all of our centre backs over him on his recent showings.
