What sauces go with what?
I prefer ketchup to brown sauce, generally speaking.
However:
Brown sauce goes better with fried egg than ketchup. Most people think brown sauce goes better with bacon too but that is not my opinion. Far from it. Ketchup compliments bacon better.
Mayo. Mayo on chips is a kinda European thing, but it is good. Not as good as ketchup but the odd time I'll have a notion for mayo. Mayo is good on a chicken burger too. And as the new guy said, it's good with tuna. Can't think of many other things it's good for.
With a sunday roast I like either horseradish sauce or mustard.
With a quality steak I don't have any sauce. If done right it should be tasty and juicy enough. People like peppercorn sauce, diane sauce etc, but again, not for me. If pushed I would say a little bit of mustard would be acceptable.
Ketchup: Fry ups (ketchup with bacon, sausages, tottie scones etc outweighs brown with egg), chips, pizza, wedges, burgers etc
Brown - Fried eggs, Haggis supper
Mayo: Tuna, chicken burgers, chips
Mustard: Burgers, Hot dogs, mashed potato (IN not WITH) macaroni cheese (IN not WITH) some fish, beef, sunday roasts
Horseradish: Sunday roast, some fish
BBQ - Surprisingly not really suitable for a BBQ - ok with wedges and stuff
Curry sauce: Good on a roll n fritter
