Shots actually DO prove a lot, it means we're in or around their penalty box and not anywhere near ours. The whole point of what I was trying to say with the stats is that we're not winning ugly. We're winning...full stop. There'll always be a game like Yeovil where we won but deserved nothing, but most games we've had the ball more, been attacking more and but for having a 2nd striker who was **** hot like Remy we'd be running up better wins. Yes our on target stats are nothing special although we still generally have more on target per game than our opponents. Stoke or maybe Wimbledon from the past are teams that won ugly because they played a huge hoof from keeper to forward.....it looked Ugly. I understand that we are really frustrating at times...2nd half V Doncaster, 1st half yesterday to name a couple. We also see the team sheet and think we should be running rings round every team we play but it doesn't work like that. There's examples of crap teams beating better teams practically every week. I'm convinced next week against Leicester we'll see a solid performance in a high tempo game and come through as victors. Yes, it means we have possession and pass the ball about, often sidewards, backwards and forwards. But we still have the ball and the possession stats I posted was to show in the games we won we were not being dominated and had to resort to some flukey goal to win.....that's all.
We are winning ugly, most of the time we only got 1 or 2 shots on target and only had one or 2 great chances a game. Everyone knows how dull it was with the exception of Derby and the 2nd half yesterday. Those shots you listed barely threatened the goal.
SHOTS ON TARGET Blackpool 6 Bournmouth 5 Charlton 7 Derby 4 Barnsley 5 Middlesbro 6 Yeovil 0 Birmingham 2 Leeds 4 Bolton 3 Ipswich 3 Sheff Wed 10 So in fact only twice have we had "only got 1 or 2 shots on target" as you stated and generally have more. The fact that we also have more on target than our opponents means we're not lucky to win these games. What it means is we lack a deadly goalscorer to help Austin, but we have the ball longer and shoot more. We're not reaching the heights a lot of us want with total dominance and big wins, although I'd love to pull out the thread where so many here expected us to finish mid table and below. Surely even with this horrible ugly season we're having it must surpass their expectations.
Ipswich to yeovil was bad although I think Austins penalty should count as a shot. What I know is I never got out of my seat more than once each game I saw. The chances we created were not quality unlike the blackpool game where we had at least five quality chances. Even the guy I go with thinks it was dull but there has been a recent improvement.
Cant believe the negativity with some on this thread. Loopy QPR obviously thinks we are going to win 46 games with champagne football every game and if it doesn't happen then something is wrong. The reality is it the championship doesn't work like that. The reality is Harry Redknapp with some shrewd signings, great organisation and fantastic man management (Joey Barton a case in point) has turned this football club round on its head. We are top of the league and going up and the team needs full support even if we lose a few games along the way
FIFA/UEFA Stats have never included penalties as shots on goal. Also, if a game is decided by a penalty shootout it goes down as a draw.
I wonder what people think of the cricket if they are depressed by how QPR are performing? Cos I feel like jumping in Millwall dock after the latest ****ing debacle in Perth.
Picked the wrong bowlers, Tremlett or Finn would have been at home on that pitch but the team overall has been very poor throughout the tour. They clearly began to believe their own hype...
All I know is that after a few years of wallowing in the mud, the Aussies look to have a team base to build on. I think 'Boof' the coach has a lot to do with that. Ever since he was appointed, the change in the way we do things and our approach to the game has been dramatic. I don't think England are too far away .................. it's just their belief that is wavering.
