I don't understand why so many professionals seem to compete across various sports. I thought the whole point of the Olympics is that it was for amateur athletes?
Well yeah, but all of these get paid in some shape now, have done for decades.
You think the Carl Lewis's of this world used to do it for free?

Yeah I get that but still find it odd that you have full time professionals competing in some sports.
See what you mean, but in the case of Tennis and Golf, for instance, do you want proper top level sportsmen/women, or people who have a knock about down the local park/course?
So, you can have the actual fastest man/rower/jumper/swimmer on the planet, and then you got Kathleen and Jeff competing at the golf playing off 10!
I think the whole thing would be better with randomly selected people given six months to learn the sport.

The blonde one for Australia would do a job defending set pieces in League Two. Pleasing number of wids in this considering the state of ‘elite’ female rugby players normally and the women’s uni team I remember.
