Off Topic Olympics

Not by Ali anyway. <laugh>
Not unless Ali was a swimmer and had an oppurtunity to win 5 or 6 medals event Olympics .
Biggest thing I'll remember about Phelps is a bong in one hand and a breathalyzer in the other .
An Olympic boxer has a professional next egg after getting a medal and is the reason they are a one and out .
The Olympics is a swimmers only claim to fame and is why they return for their " Multi " opportunities for success .
And as for Mo , there is a lot of smoke that surrounds him .

Before the Olympics started i was a bit worried that Rio would be a terrible Olympics but i must say the Brazilians have done a great job of staging the event after all the rumours that it wont be ready. The UK have done Fantastically well and better than i hoped in the first week and i think we will do even better in Tokyo in 4 years time by the amount of young sports stars we have now that is down to the money available through the lottery.......Just look at the 4th places we have had and you will see the future is looking bright and i have loved every second of it.....

Is that the best you can come up with? Really?

You're quick to point out that if you ask people in the world who Mohamed Ali is most would know, and you're probably right. But I suggest that if you ask people what Phelps will be remembered for it will be a glittering Olympic career that made him the greatest Olympian of all time, not some minor indiscretion that matters not one jot. If that's really what you remember him for you have a weird outlook on life.

The only smoke surrounding anyone is the stuff shooting out of your arse.

Phelps has been and will always be one of the greatest Olympians of all time, Look how he has dominated swimming for all these years that have amassed all those gold medals through dedication to his sport that imo will never get beaten.....Do you remember Thorpe another swimmer who was suppose to be the next best thing to Phelps well he has not produced the goods, Well We have the next best star in Adam peaty who will take some beating and he will dominate Tokyo in 4 years time and beyond but even he will be pushed into achieving half of what Phelps has done...

I think the Thorpedo's career ended too soon Dai, but he had a fantastic record and is a little older than Phelps who has managed to push the boundaries into his thirties. Thorpe also suffered more injuries and never achieved his full potential as a result.

Peaty looks a prospect but I agree with Valley. Phelps's achievements are unlikely to be beaten. However, Ledecky is still only 19 so it can be done.
